When you are saved, all of your sins are forgiven..however God also said..

Judge not lest ye be judged
The measure that you use will be measured back to you
blessed are the merciful for they shall receive mercy

It seems to indicate that although we may not go to hell we can earn some sort of punishment if we do not obey Gods commands

Can God forgive you if you dont forgive others?

When I was on Facebook, I posted on someones status "How can you be forgiven if you can't forgive."

Just want to make sure I got it right.

Col 3:13 "bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do." NKJV Of course, it's in the Lord's Prayer and other Scriptures.

Several months ago I ran across this verse - our prayers can be hindered by a number of things such as1Pe 3:7"Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.” KJV

The peace of Jesus is so powerful, I could not judge or dislike those who I think cannot be forgiven. Because Jesus wants all non-Christians to become Christians at present and those yet to be born in the future, he knows who will be in God's kingdom before he returns from some unknown time in the future. We as Christians can only be like Jesus by showing our peaceful love for others, especially those who did serious harm. People change through the miraculous healing of Jesus, spiritually free from Satan's power of evil - like a helpless fish caught in the net but set free by a giant swordfish as it jumps from the seawaves and cuts the net open with it's spear-like nose.:*:. I would be surprised to see in God's kingdom those who don't deserve to be there, such as those who have done the worst crimes in human history - free from the darkness of sin, to love peacefully with Jesus where the sunless light over God's kingdom will never make us lose our step or trip over something in the dark.

Scripture tells us if we do not forgive others, nor will we be forgiven by God and He will hand us over to satan to be tormented because of our unforgiveness. We can see this in action every day if we just look around with our spiritual eyes.
Look how miserable people that hold onto unforgiveness are. Unforgiveness turns to bitterness rather quickly. That is because we choose to give satan a license to torment us whenever we choose to sin.
Bitter people are NEVER happy. They are in a "prison" that only forgiving the other person can release them from.

Matt 18:23-35

Therefore the Kingdom of Heaven is like a certain king, who wanted to reconcile accounts with his servants. When he had begun to reconcile, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. But because he couldn’t pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, with his wife, his children, and all that he had, and payment to be made. The servant therefore fell down and kneeled before him, saying, ‘Lord, have patience with me, and I will repay you all!’ The lord of that servant, being moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt. "But that servant went out, and found one of his fellow servants, who owed him one hundred denarii, and he grabbed him, and took him by the throat, saying, ‘Pay me what you owe!’ "So his fellow servant fell down at his feet and begged him, saying, ‘Have patience with me, and I will repay you!’ He would not, but went and cast him into prison, until he should pay back that which was due. So when his fellow servants saw what was done, they were exceedingly sorry, and came and told to their lord all that was done. Then his lord called him in, and said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt, because you begged me. Shouldn’t you also have had mercy on your fellow servant, even as I had mercy on you?’ His lord was angry, and delivered him to the tormentors, until he should pay all that was due to him. So my heavenly Father will also do to you, if you don’t each forgive your brother from your hearts for his misdeeds."

Jesus said in Matthew chapter 5 that you must reconcile with your brother before you give an offering to God.

God is a relational God of relationships. We must be right with others, in as much as it is up to us, to have a right relationship with God. Forgiving others is not for them, it is for our benefit. Consider this; did God send Jesus to forgive us, for us, or so that He could once again have a relationship with His creation whom He loves?

Not forgiving someone is the most selfish act a Christian can perform and is not following the Holy Spirit which was sent to us to lead us into righteousness. Why hold onto that animosity? It is only hurting one's self, not the other person.

"For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins." Jesus in Matthew 6.

Be blessed,

You are forgiven anyway. That was settled at Calvary.

It's because we recognise that God has already forgiven us and the other person that we can choose to accept that fact and also forgive them. When we do that we are enabled to enter into the freedom that forgiveness can bring. We are the losers when we don't forgive.
