A very good way to lessen depression is a good workout! Also eat chocolate (at least 80% cocoa content). I feel for you!

We all are surviving. Life is to short to get so worked up over minor things. I learned that here. This forum showed me that these petty jabs and accusations just lead in endless circles, but that you can break the cycle. I'm a young man, and I still have a lot of growing up to do.

But I'm surviving.

It's an odd hour to be on, and I pouring out my soul like this isn't something I normally do. But this site has gotten me thinking. I think I need to do some soul searching. I think I need to learn to accept myself and try to become someone better. It's time for me to get out and go learn who I am. I'll probably lurk here every now and then, probably at odd hours. Until we meet again, this is Ampersand, wishing you a content and fulfilling life.

One thing about message boards: most people on message boards are there to express their opinion, not discuss things. Granted, there can be some debate, some give-and-take, but too many people simply get on a message board because they want to yell. You have to choose your battles, decide whether engaging certain people or certain issues is even worth your time. Keep your perspective; things in the country might appear to be going straight to hell on a handcar, but until lead starts to actually fly, this is all academic.

The liberals are going to be the first ones to start screaming when there's no more of Other People's Money in the coffers and the Cash Cow goes dry.

But it'll be too late then. When the economy goes completely bust, it'll get really ugly (cf. "lead flying" above....).

Average price of beef is $3.87/lb in Feb 2011.

Movie tickets also used to be $0.50, now they're almost $10!!!!! Should we blame Obama for that as well?

I don't know where you live in the country but I've seen much of my items in the grocery store rising yearly however seen can goods rise by three times. You state whatever information that backs your ideas but at the register.... I can see it reflecting on my checking account. Nothing to say about everything else that has taken from my standard of living that is diminished.

Psst! If you acquire a hog, you can feed it all your expired, old, spoiled food, and it will thrive---and in a few months or so, you can slaughter the hog and it will provide you with enough ham, pork chops, bacon, spare ribs, and pork roast to last you a year!

But don't tell the meat counter guys down at the Wal-Mart Superstore I said that---they count on people being tied into the system, you know.

My comment was specifically about beef, which the OP stated he could get for $1.29, which sounds dubious based on recent beef prices. That was all.

I know things have gone up at the counter, I'm not saying they aren't. The one thing I've noticed most is milk. 10 years ago I could get a gallon for 99¢ on sale, now its closer to $3.50-$4.00. I absolutely love milk and go through about two gallons a week.
