"Dr. Terry Lakin was released today from Ft. Leavenworth, where he served almost six months of prison time for refusing orders over his doubts about Barack Obama's eligibility to be president, and told WND that he is going to focus on his family first, then his church and medical career.

In comments via telephone shortly after his release, Lakin, a lieutenant colonel in the military, told WND that he also remains dedicated to the Christian ideals on which the United States was founded.
-------
Questions during the brief interview were restricted by Lakin's advisers because of the pending status of an appeal of the military court's decision, as well as a request for clemency that remains unaddressed.
His release came after a standard reduction in time for good behavior.
----------------

After a call to his parents, Lakin was on the line with WND.

He said getting back to his family is the "most important thing right now."
Then is getting established in "a good Christian church near our house."
Then comes "taking care of my medical career."

He said while he was incarcerated, he found a great deal of encouragement from the cards and "uplifting letters" that fans sent, sometimes at the rate of 30-40 per day.

"People were sending me pictures of their families, telling me about their concerns," he said. "I tried to make it the most positive experience I could. It was an experience for self-reflection on my Christian faith."
-------------
"I'm just kind of amazed where we lost track in the history lessons I had growing up of how firmly based our Founders were in Christianity," he said. "They wanted to maintain freedom of religion, not freedom from religion."

May God continue to Bless Terry Lakin.

So glad he is a free man and can be with his wife and kids again.

Well well well Coward Lakin has finally been released. I hope people avoid his medical practice like the plague. If he believes is tin foil hattery like birtherism, the next thing you know he's "healing you with prayer" and bleeding you with leeches.

Failure to deploy is failure to deploy. I've known people who were looked upon with disdain for failure to deploy when they had a terminally ill loved one. Why should anyone who refused to deploy because they wanted to believe their president was "not really their president, but a covert Kenyan Muslim, therefore I don't have to do what he says" be put on some sort of pedestal of honor? Failing to follow orders, when you've committed your life to the service of this country, is nothing short of cowardice.

Bolded emphasis mine. This is where the problem is. As my husband said, "he's a doctor? Let me translate. 'I am making $250k per year. I'm not giving that up to be deployed and make significantly less'"

In comments via telephone shortly after his release, Lakin, a lieutenant colonel in the military, told WND that he also remains dedicated to the Christian ideals on which the United States was founded.

What Christian ideal was he following, pray tell? The Bible commands us to obey the laws of the land and our authority figures.

After a call to his parents, Lakin was on the line with WND.

No, the heck you say?

He said getting back to his family is the "most important thing right now."
Then is getting established in "a good Christian church near our house."
Then comes "taking care of my medical career."

And life will go on and some crazy people will make other Christians look bad by applauding his most unpatriotic and cowardly behavior. Bottom line - Lakin didn't want to give up his cushy job as a physician and actually be thrust into harm's way.

He said while he was incarcerated, he found a great deal of encouragement from the cards and "uplifting letters" that fans sent, sometimes at the rate of 30-40 per day.

Here is one thing that makes me angry about this (despite totally besmirching the military) - there is a small handful of tinfoil hat wearing conservatives who are applauding him for this and they're the same ones who would absolutely call for the head of a liberal refusing to be deployed in protest of the war.

"I'm just kind of amazed where we lost track in the history lessons I had growing up of how firmly based our Founders were in Christianity," he said. "They wanted to maintain freedom of religion, not freedom from religion."

What does this have to do with being a birther?

I don't understand him - was he tetched in the head or did he want to be a celebrity martyr?

I keep hoping that the birther movement is one big political Rick Roll. Like, "ahahahahahaha check out what we're doing. We think the president is really a Muslim from Kenya. There's a birth certificate? It was fake. HAHAHAHAHA SIKE!" I keep thinking it's like a big false flag, or something. God, I hope it's a false flag. Like the woman back during the election who claimed an Obama supporter mugged her and carved the letter "B" in her cheek when he saw her McCain/Palin bumper sticker? That sort of thing.

Nuttin. Just changes the issue from one of "I refused to deploy because I didn't think my black president was American, and now I look like a tool" to "Christian persecutionzzz!@!!1" It'll work nicely for the people who supported him in the first place.

I don't understand him - was he tetched in the head or did he want to be a celebrity martyr?
Yes.

No, Obama supporters (union thugs) actually do beat people up and trash government buildings.

Every American citizen has the right to question the eligibility of Obama to be President. His father is a Kenyan/British citizen. His mother filled out paperwork saying that Obama's name was Barry Soetoro, and an Indonesian citizen.

Military officers have sworn an OATH to uphold and defend the CONSTITUTION of the USA. Obama is not eligible to be president under the "natural born citizen" requirement of the constitution. Military officers who carry out his orders may be subject to charges and direliction of duty because Obama is not eligible to be president, according to the Constitution that they've sworn to uphold and defend.

Lakin did his Constitutionally-required duty, under oath, to uphold and defend the Constitution of this nation. The fact that he was refused due process and thrown in military prison speaks to the authoritarian nature of this regime and the koolaid drinkers who bow to him.

And in accordance with the actual laws of the land (not the fictitious mythical laws he WISHED existed) he was tried, found guilty, dishonorably discharged and sent to prison. So, looks like justice was served to me.

The man was not allowed to call witnesses or provide evidence.

That's not "justice".

What kind of kangaroo court prosecutes a man, not allowing him to call witnesses or provide evidence?
