What do you guys think of Christians in general?

I would like to know because I always seem to run into Atheists who seem to get very defensive as soon as I say I'm a Christian.
Its not like I start preaching the gospel to them or anything. Well, only if the ask me too and even then I'm reserved about it, I just explain the basic Christian beliefs. I dunno whats up with them, but maybe you guys can fill me in a bit from your perspective.

I think that Christianity is saved by the not inconsiderable number of very good people who embrace it. If they were removed from the church, it would become a hell on earth without changing a single jot or tittle of its dogma.

I go to Catholic school, and my religious education teacher saying we shouldn't vote for atheist politicians because they don't value life and will bring in forced euthanasia was pushing things a little too far for me.
I don't actually tend to meet many Christians to be 100% honest though.

Man, they are way off. I value life more than just about anybody I know. I can see where they come to that conclusion though.

Yes, the accusation that non believers don't value life is one I hear often, yet in fact most non-believers are more likely to value life highly, as they are convinced we only get one and when it's over, it's all over. You won't hear an atheist rationalising mass killing by stating that God will sort them out (the dead).

Nah. Non believers are like us Chinese, we just dont value human life. And we all look exactly the same. I have heard about that.

I like people based on their personalities, not on their religion. I have several Christian and non-Christian friends, so it's really a nonissue for me.

However, I have a feeling from this post that you're one of those that likes to come out and preach out of the blue to people about Christianity. I mean, religion isn't something that usually comes out in casual conversation and by the time it does, you usually already like or dislike the person anyway. So, I find it hard to believe that people you already know get defensive about your being a Christian and I don't see why religion would come up in conversation with a total stranger.

To who? As we know teachers seem to be immune to accountability for themselves except when they indulge in sex with a student or murder.

I complained and got a teacher fired.
i think if you were a teacher you'd find you were actually very vulnerable.

I don't know that it would make a difference to a Catholic school. It is a private school, so they may allow the teachers to present their own twisted views on certain groups.
I'm pretty sure that there is some regulation as to how absurd and nasty they can get.

Atheists aren't the most sympathetic group in the US when it comes to claims of discrimination and, frankly, this wasn't particularly nasty saying atheist politicians don't value life and would bring in forced euthanasia is pretty mild compared to some things I've heard before.

The person who said about her Catholic school lived in England, that's why I said it. I have no idea about the USA.

I worked in a school several years ago, teacher's tend to have powerful unions behind them and each covers their own and others asses in my view.
