I believe in Muslim tradition, a body must be buried a certain way, particularly with the head positioned facing Mecca. A burial at sea is pretty much an insult, although the 24 hour tradition was respected and I believe Islamic clerics were called in to prepare his body beforehand. There were actually a few Arab nations that refused to claim his body for a proper burial, and the US government did not want a shrine erected to him, so a burial at sea within 24 hours was a good compromise. I can understand your views regarding humanism and pacifism regarding war. But can you please take down that "Choice- its a right" sign in your sig? Considering if you truly believe non-violence towards human beings then you should extend that to everyone including the unborn, otherwise it just looks like a glaring contradiction.

yea, I heard the main reason was to prevent a shrine from being erected. Muslims also believe that when one dies they go through a sort of 'purgatory' within the grave.

apparently the photo of osama floating around of his dead body is a fake. As reports say he was shot above his right eye, of which a part of his skull was removed off.

They are going to have to release something proving his death though. If they don't it will never be closed.

Okay, I'm gonna be picky. Not about what you wrote, just the picture. Do snipers use the 7.62x39mm? I know the M1 uses a 7.62x33mm, but I thought the 39mm was primarily for Soviet-style weapons, and the newer civilian stuff they make these days?

Also, I just pulled out a dollar bill and a 30-06 Springfield, just for comparison. That .50 cal is officially scary.

According to news reports this was a close in operation with four helicopters dropping Seals into the compound, then landing. A 50BMG wouldn't be used in this operation. My best guess is that the M4 carbine was used as it is designed for urban operations. Particularly the short barrel version with collapsing stock. A .308 variant could also have been used.

Several news agencies have reported that B-L was unarmed when shot. I am disturbed that we have fallen to the same level as the terrorists.

Osama bin Laden was a figurehead of Al-qaeda. He preached death,destruction and terror. His death is an end to another chapter in the war against Global terrorism and hopefully some lives will be spared.

But the reaction in the UK from muslim communities is unsettling and I feel that some retaliation is only a step away.

The world is a safer place with him gone but be steadfast and vigilant people.

I hope the families and friends of all his victims on all continents find some closure to this terrible chapter of our lives.

But the circle of death and hate continues. I pray for some peaceful end to it. I live in hope.

If he had been taken alive the amount of hostage taking and horrific murder of hostages would have been too big a sacrifice for any administration to shoulder. Sadly death was the only option at this juncture.

Justice has been done.

There seems very little doubt now that Bin Laden was murdered in cold blood. I wonder what Pope Benedict would say about this, if he knew for certain the circumstances involved?

Yeah, I know. And I have heard that his youngest wife was also killed when she was used as a shield. :::shudder:::

Correction: The president's press conference says that she was just shot--but also that there were young children and that they are now in Pakastani custody.

K people, on Easter morning i woke up from a terrible dream that terrorists were on our soil - and shoting at us on the ground [my family anyway] and the area appeared war torn - and the ppl with guns wore whatever - and carried strapped guns - and big guns.
Also - the last of the dream was about dolphins... 3 of them.
My dream book says it indicates liability to come under a new government..and that this is not a good dream.

Incidently in the dream a woman shot at me, i had no weapon but used a rock. I didnt pay attention to what they wanted or who they were until my daughter asked if it was the Chinese and i knew it was not.
She asked if it was terrorists...and it hit me, the woman was on a horse or camel or whatever it was and she had covering over her so i didnt see her, only sensed it was a woman.
The rope on top of her covering was almost like a guys turban thingy that holds it down and it was yellow or gold with black weaved through it.

I dont know - does some country or something have those colors?

I am trying to figure it all out. This is usually how i dont 'get it' til things happen.

Also, the dolphin part of the dream - the ocean tide came in but there was a 7 ft high wall where it should come in naturally over the sand.. but the wall stopped it.
I looked online this week for which country uses walls by their sea...in the Middle east.
I am clueless actually.

Thank you. Yah, they do not like their own, so the terrorists will be the ones to incite a disquiet about this.
They wont move unless or until ppl stand behind them...and ya know the waves of things thru the grapevine could have a potentially harmful outcome.
Though it will only be to exact revenge [cos they love war and fights] and no love lost for Osama

I remember - a gentleman and a lady in red. Jumping, falling falling... Dear God, vividly in my memory. I remember the tha-whomp of bodies hitting the ground...I remember 9-11 among other atrocities ole bin did. Were not the 3000 + and others done in cold blood? Those burned to death, those who jumped to avoid the heat, those blown to pieces and those whose pieces could not be found - blown into nothingness. So many, so many. His death was fast and there are those who he murdered whose death was not so fast or was horrendous. My only wish would be that he would have been killed long before all the murders he committed or caused to be done. Cold blooded? No - justice done. God bless those who found ole bin and killed him. They have my thanks.

wow, that's quite the timing for that kind of dream

getting Bin Laden to protect American soil might have the opposite effect. the thing that puzzle me about the black and gold headdress is that while i tried to google image, nothing came up at all. in google webpages, what came up is the U.S. Army Black Knight Football team and some 1800's UK head dress.

hmmm, i guess it's not just military uniform that are not showing up in google image... nothing at all is coming up in a google image search. is it just me or google image has been disabled?

at first i thought the wave is what Osama tossed in the water caused. a wave can also be an invasion. but if there's a 7' high wall, why 7? one that protect from the wave/invasion?... could be God's protection? 7 sacraments? you also used a rock as your shield... Peter is the rock. could that make sense?

i'm just tossing ideas as they come *shrug* but it would make sense to me that prayer and trust in God would be our best hope.
