I was listening to some worship music with a friend the other day, and I told her that this one song "always gets me there" - into the presence of God.

I'm going to share it here - I'd like to know what song gets you there.

All My Desire, by Ray Watson (this link is to a place where you can play or download this song for free)

Of course there are other songs, but lately.....

I was wafting along as an indifferent Christian never giving a second (much less first) thought to God when I ran across this song on youttube a few months ago. It took me there and rekindled a new love for Jesus.

Those are awesome!! I love Don Potter too, SpiritPsalmist.
Hey, tomorrow I'm going to see Jason Upton - I can hardly believe he is here in Honduras right now!
AWWWWSOME!
The song I was going to share was, Gideon by Jason Upton. But, it's really the middle to the end part that I LOVE.

"I lift my eyes toward the heavens. I turn my ear to your command. Help me boast of my condition Lord, YOU'RE THE GOD AND I'M THE MAN!!" Love that part. Then a fantastic length of awesome drumming.

If you really need music to worship God, then how do you know you're worshipping God and not worshipping the music?

John, I posted this in the SF/C forum because I expect that the people here know what I'm talking about. :) Suffice it to say that music is a spiritual vehicle. Forces of darkness have been using that for years, but much of the body of Christ chooses to ignore it.

If you really need music to worship God, then how do you know you're worshipping God and not worshipping the music?

"Getting there" is that place where I am locked away with HIM and the regular distractions do not have my attention. Yes, spiritually we are always in His presence, however, emotionally, not necessarily. To me, it's that "closet" place.

I'm reminded of the story I heard about Susanna Wesley. One of her sons, don't remember which one, said they always knew when mama would suddenly pull her apron up over her head, she was praying. It was her way of cutting the distractions out in order to get the strength she needed.

I don't need music to get there. For me though, God does use the music to get me there quicker. How do I know I'm worshiping God and not the music? I'm not critiquing the music, the instruments, the voices, etc.. It's God I'm focused on and I feel His Spirit permeating my inner man and changing me. It's happened without music too, but most of the time I find He enjoys being sung to so He lets me.

Praise and worship like this is going on live 27/7/365 at IHOP-KC:

Whenever I'm on the computer, it's always playing in the background, and it's streaming on my Ipod at work or when I go out for a run.

27 hours a day? Awesome! :p

The worship song that has spoken to me lately is "Holy Design"

YouTube - Yearn by Shane & Shane

But, like a lot of songs that our praise team at church does, I find that the original artist version isn't quite the same.
