Where can I buy

I go to skete.com for icons, mostly, but they have prayer ropes, too. A lot of monasteries have web sites where they sell this sort of thing. A lot of parishes also have bookstores or similar enteprises that will sell you a prayer rope.

I would ask your priest.

He should be the one advising you how to pray. He may have some imput on how many knots, etc...

yeah, usually Church bookstores have them, and maybe someday if you can get to a monastery because they usually have them.

Wow, how strange things can be... I just went over a video on making the cord knot prayer rope and was going to make one for myself, and was going to see if others actually used them, and make them for others, all the different sizes and you would just have it blessed by your priest before using it.

Good luck. The local abbess tried to teach us how to make the knots and I never did figure it out. They are insanely difficult to tie.

Good idea. Don't you love the appearance of a double negative here?
In Denmark, they actually pronounce the "K-n" sounds, and the P-n in pneumonia.

However, I was told that one should have the blessing of one's spiritual father before learning the knots, and that one should pray the Jesus Prayer while knotting them. I did try it and it takes a lot of concentration and more than two pairs of hands at first.

Oh I figure it will take some time and lots of practice also will be doing it with two colors like the video until I really get the hang of it. LOL
