• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I Love my husband VERY much...but he has battle the Xanax for YEARS...due to his panic disorder.
They have had him on SO many other meds as well..
He's been on these since he was 18..and you cant just snatch someone off of something like a Benzo after they have been on it THAT long.
He battles them every month.
He understands that something has to change.
Hes looking deep in his faith.
but he has gotten alot better when he has to go without..
He use to be so rude and mean with out them years ago..
but things change and hes the same person now with or without them, but his mind races and he cant sleep..
he gets upset...and ect ect..
im not sure if anyone els has been on these for anything but if you would share your story with me or give advice i'd be very thankful!
god bless.

I have anxiety disorder, and the best treatment for anxiety/panic tends to be cognitive behavioral therapy that helps to look at what the panic is about and the anxiety is about. While panic is a step further than anxiety, counseling can help him to work through the panic.

My psychiatrist told me not to stop taking my benzo - but to step off of it because of the withdrawal. It is done under a doctor's care, but I'd say combine the med and the therapy if he hasn't tried that. It's hard work to manage anxiety and panic, but it's worth it in my experience.
