The Book of Ezekiel verse by verse (2)

Ezekiel 1:1

It happened in the thirtieth year, in the fourth [month], on the fifth of the month, as I was among the exile by the River Chebar; the heavens opened and I saw visions of God.

Ezekiel 1:2

On the fifth of the month, which was in the fifth of the year of the exile of King Jehoiachin,

Ezekiel 1:3

the word of HASHEM came to Ezekiel son of Buzi, the Kohen, in the land of the Chaldeans, by the River Chebar; and the hand of HASHEM came upon him there.

Ezekiel 1:4

I saw, and behold! there was a stormy wind coming from the north, a great cloud with flashing fire and a brilliance surrounding it; and from its midst, like the color of the Chashmal rom the midst of the fire;

Ezekiel 1:5

and in the midst there was a likeness of four Chayos. This was their appearance: They had the likeness of a man;

Ezekiel 1:6
And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings.

Under their wings on their four sides they had the hands of a man. All four of them had faces and wings,

That is what their faces were like. Their wings were spread upward; each had two wings touching that of another and two wings covering its body.

Ezekiel 1:12
12 Each one went straight ahead. Wherever the spirit would go, they would go, without turning as they went.

Ezekiel 1:13
13 The appearance of the living creatures was like burning coals of fire or like torches. Fire moved back and forth among the creatures; it was bright, and lightning flashed out of it.

Ezekiel 1:14
14 The creatures sped back and forth like flashes of lightning.

Ezekiel 1:15
15 As I looked at the living creatures, I saw a wheel on the ground beside each creature with its four faces.

Ezekiel 1:16
16 This was the appearance and structure of the wheels: They sparkled like chrysolite, and all four looked alike. Each appeared to be made like a wheel intersecting a wheel.

Ezekiel 1:17 (Amp)
17 When they went, they went in one of their four directions without turning [for they were faced that way].

Ezekiel 1:18 (Amp)
18 As for their rims, they were so high that they were dreadful, and the four had their rims full of eyes round about.

Ezekiel 1:19
19 When the living creatures moved, the wheels beside them moved; and when the living creatures rose from the ground, the wheels also rose.

Ezekiel 1:20
20 Wherever the spirit wanted to go, they went, because there the spirit went; and the wheels were lifted together with them, for the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.
