• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Last time I had this was in Little Italy in New York City when I was still a young man. I still remember it too!

Oh, sorry!!!
:hug:s for you, Matthew!
Thank you sweetie!! I knew I'd get a hug if I begged hard enough.
Here's one for you too... ...okay, and another...
Also one for anyone else here who needs it...
And there's plenty more where those came from, so don't be shy to ask for one... or two ...or three... or... well, you get the idea.

Oh, and some escargot with some crusty bread too. Thank you. :)
Robert... Having the midnight munchies are ya?? LOL!! ^_^

Robert, you know I love you...but, I often feel nauseous after I see the food you want to eat.

;)

I will try not to vomit in the cafe, though. :p

Were you the one telling me some time (was it years?) ago that you stick to very plain cooking? I think it was you.

I know how you feel about it, but I love this stuff. :) Escargot in buttery and garlicky little cups with crusty bread to sop up the drippings is world-O-awesomeness in my book. Maybe just avert your eyes when you see a food post from me coming. ;) I'll put a warning sign above it or something. ;)

I am going to post something else, but I will put it beneath all this so you can skip past it. :) Please ignore the part about the crunchy squid heads. ;) Hee hee. ;)

Love you too dear heart.

Robert

Okay, crunchy squid heads:

I just seriously love calimari (deep-fried squid), but I must confess that the part I like best are the crunchy tentacle-y head bits. ;) The body part (the rings) are great too, but the crunchy baby squid tentacles are the best. ;) A little squeeze of lemon and I am a happy boy. :)

I was thinking the same thing! I couldn't eat most of that stuff without my gag reflex jumping into action. Sorry Robert. :sorry: I guess it's just a matter of taste... some got it for that kind of thing and some of us don't. That's okay. It's called "individuality". You go ahead and eat what you think is good for you. However, I'd read Leviticus 11 though... especially verse 9.
:preach: :angel: :blush: :doh: :sorry::swoon:

Definitely, I think I must have needed a doggy bag after all that. ;)
Was that a doggy bag or barf bag?? LOL!!! :p Sorry, but just had to get ya one more time. Please forgive me. :sorry::swoon:
I'm just teasin' ya. :D

You guys are all missing out. And um, religious food laws went out with the New Testament. ;)

Okay, our dish today is sweet shrimp. If you order shrimp sushi at a sushi bar, you get cooked shrimp on a pad of rice. It is about as challenging as a Big Mac. If you order sweet shrimp, you get raw shrimp, which has to be immaculately fresh (and it is correspondingly expensive), but it is sublime. :)

Okay, so after you eat your 2 pieces of sweet shrimp, they bring you the shrimp heads which have been battered and deep-fried, and are almost as good as the sweet shrimp itself (but not quite). :D

Here is another item from the sushi bar. You have to go to a pretty high-quality sushi bar to get this, but it is sublime. You don't order this unless you have serious confidence in the quality of the establishment, because it has to be immaculately fresh.

This is Uni, which is euphemistically referred to as "sea urchin roe". It is actually sea urchin ovaries, and it sells for over $200 bucks a pound in Japan.

The flavor is sublime, a little bit hard to describe. It has a bit of the richness and custard-y-ness of French Vanilla ice cream, slighly sweet, with a slight briny sea flavor. The meal I would have if I knew it would be my last one on Earth, would be sushi capped off with several orders of this. :)

You will have to try the Cracker Barrel, it is more of a southern thing, I love the place. :) I am not sure how national they are as they started in TN years ago.

:D I'm an Alabama girl who spent the last fifteen years in Atlanta. I know Cracker Barrel very well, as does my waistline! :yum:
