I really don't see anyone from the Democratic party mounting a serious threat to Obama, but on the other side less they bring Ronald Reagan back to life, there really isn't anyone so far that warrants any consideration.

Exampe "A" Mike Huckabee:

"I believe it's a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living God. And that's what we need to do is to amend the Constitution so it's in God's standards rather than try to change God's standards so it lines with some contemporary view of how we treat each other and how we treat the family."
....I mean.....really Mike.....really.:o

All that is really left is if Romney runs???

I would like to open this up to all progressives.

I would have a hard time given the usual suspects for the '12 GOP nomination (otherwise known as the line up of FOXnews pundit personalities). I know if Reagan ran on his record today he probably would be the fodder of that network and those very same pundits.

Is there any GOP candidate that peaks your attention and why?

My favorite Republican is Olympia Snowe. She'll probably never run (as a Republican anyway) because she has zero chance of being nominated. (Her age is kind of an issue, too.) She embodies a perfect combination of social liberalism and fiscal conservatism, which would be enormously attractive to moderates like myself. And she's pragmatic, non-doctrinaire, and can work with both parties to get things done. But she's abhorrent to the GOP's religious conservatives who control the nomination process.

At this point even Ronald Reagan would be too much of a "Leftist" for the Tea-Party.

This is my Republican dream ticket: Palin/Bachmann

Yeah I dream about that too so we can have 4 more years of Obama!

Well if you enjoy listening to Stephanie Miller or other left-wing talk show hosts a Palin/Bachmann ticket would be pure comedy gold. The jokes would practically write themselves.

Paul Ryan (especially) and Chris Christie are the Republican's best possible canidates.

I understand that politicians embellish the truth, but the Republican Party would be wise to not run a candidate with an established track record of making stuff up. He'll get eaten alive over his inability to be honest. It may fly at the state level where the media scrutiny isn't as intense, but at the Presidential level it's going to be a disaster for him.

it would be hilarious to see Paul Ryan run. Actually being from the state he pretends to serve, he's just not that bright, and he isn't a good enough liar to get elected. He actually says what Republicans intend to do, rather than what they pretend to do

When you have a populace with about a two-week political memory and a national media that refuses to fact-check? I wouldn't be so sure...

really, though, only Republicans who lie can win. People don't support Republican/Conservative policies, but they can be tricked into supporting Republican politicians who talk a good enough game.

Replace Republican with Liberal, Tack it to the donkey's butt, and the sentence will be complete.

well, it usually happens like this:

Dem runs on something, wins, and then is far more moderate than what they ran on.

Republican runs on something, wins, and then is far more extreme and out of the mainstream than what they ran on.

Often the campaign doesn't match the governing, but it is Republicans who lie because their views don't represent the majority of patriotic Americans.

And yet, it was the Dems who got shellacked this past election...what does that tell you? That the American people were fed up with the Dem's shenanigans?

partly. they aren't happy that Obama was so moderate, and didn't work as fast to clean up the failure of Reaganomics we're living through.

The Republicans, not amazingly, managed to lie well enough to pick up a bunch of seats. But we see what happens when they do what they believe, instead of what they run on.

Scott Walker managed to fool a lot of people in 2010. But now that he's actually doing the Republican thing, he's at 60% disapproval.

Republicans don't stand a chance in '12. Not unless something unexpected happens or someone steps up. Right now they're so bent on "purity" within their party that they'll nominate someone who plays to the base, but not the rest of America.

Though I really really REALLY hope that Palin runs, just for the chance for more Tina Fey skits on SNL!
