I say its a matter of experience and perspective, no one person could answer it because you are comparing two opposing hypotheticals ... I'd venture to say you will have those in the grass is always greener camp and those who feel they have dodged the bullet or experienced something unique and rare. In any case I don't think you could categorically say which would be better, any comparison you make will be based on personal experience vs the fantasy of what could have been

I dunno, I think they're both equally horrible. One could argue that loving and losing leaves you with a greater void because once you experience love, you know how powerful it can be, how good it feels, how much happiness it brings, and to lose it leaves you not only where you started (without love), but with a hole in your heart that wasn't there before, and a longing to find a way to fix it.

Never knowing what love is perhaps isn't much better. But maybe ignorance is bliss in the sense that you don't know what you're missing, yet there's still going to be a feeling of missing out.

Might I propose that its better to love and succeed than to love and lose or never love at all?

I have loved and lost. I wouldn't trade it for anything despite all the pain I endured, because from it I experienced a lot, learned a lot and grew immensely. And I am left with great memories, fondness and prepared more than ever and for that I am thankful.

What is love? Baby don't hurt me. Don't hurt no more.

Now I've got that song stuck in my head. :D

To the OP, if you're thinking romantically speaking, methinks never loved at all. That's how I am right now anyways, so I can live with this.

I know people have said this and heard this a trillion times...

Better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.

What about you? Would you rather have loved and lost, then to have never loved at all?

Love is unlike anything else we can experience here. Nothing else is like it. Nothing. It's not like eating chocolate. It's not like the sun shining in all its glory. It's not even like March Madness.

Love has taught me so much, all invaluable lessons I would not trade in for anything. It hurts to lose it - and sometimes keep it. But, it's worth it. Well worth it in the end.

If it's unrequited love we're talking about, you can keep that. In fact, I'd rather be run over by a warthog.

Same here. And I would say the same thing for love that ends in a broken relationship.

What is meant by love? English is a strange language in that it only has one word for love. What about familiar love? The love of friends, the love of a spouse and the love of God?

Who could regret love? Isn't that the highest of human emotions? Isn't love that intoxicating sensation that makes the world seem right, that gives someone the power to do anything? Isn't love what we live for?

Our lives are full of loss and pain. Pain only hurts because someone has meant so much for us. I don't regret any form of love. Because all love brings us to understand more about the love of God. That is the ultimate love and the one love that can never be lost.
