Wellll.... it isn't false, I'm afraid. If it was, religion and apologetics would be enormously easier. But Christ never promised us religion would be easy, soooo....

They look alike because they are alike.

In fact, they are the same.

What some see as "primates", are probably those who died with bone disfigurements.

I believe if King David's bones were dug up today -- (assuming they were fossilized) -- he would look like either a Cro-magnon or Neanderthal.

If you read the 38th Psalm, you'll see that he died of a strange disease that changed his physical appearance dramatically.

Notice especially verse 6:

Psalm 38:6 I am troubled; I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long.

Or he was depressed about something and was looking down at the ground a lot, like this:

Hey, is that Snoopy in the background?

Haha, yes. Arrested Development fan?

And AV, I think it's hilarious how think that it is some how a self-evident interpretation of a Bible verse when you take a couple words extremely out of context and contort their meaning.

There's two phrases about the author being depressed - "I am troubled" and "I go mourning all day long", and sandwiched between them is "I am bowed down greatly" and you think the "bowed down greatly" comment refers to a disease of his skeletal system? Maybe the whole "bowed down greatly" remark is just another way of saying he's dealing with a heavy burden.

Did you read the 38th Psalm? or is it easier to look at pictures that have nothing to do with the point you can't get?

I know you might end up understanding what I said, but try anyway.

I just read the Psalm. I don't get your point about him having some weird disease. The whole thing seems like an allegory for the crushing weight his sin has had on him, or some awful trials he's going through. But a disease that would make his skeleton look like a Neanderthal? Huh?

And I will take any excuse to post a picture from Arrested Development

Really?

Here are commentaries on vss 2 & 3 -- from Adam Clarke's Commentary:

Verse 2. Thine arrows stick fast in me] This no doubt, refers to the acute pains which he endured; each appearing to his feeling as if an arrow were shot into his body.
Verse 3. No soundness in my flesh] This seems to refer to some disorder which so affected the muscles as to produce sores and ulcers; and so affected his bones as to leave him no peace nor rest. In short, he was completely and thoroughly diseased; and all this he attributes to his sin, either as being its natural consequence, or as being inflicted by the Lord as a punishment on its account.
And that's just the 2nd and 3rd verses.

But as long as you think it's an allegory, I guess we're not going to agree.

Would it kill you give the world's palaeontologists a bit of credit rather than assuming they're all retarded?
Are you talking to me?

I don't go around assuming people are retarded -- like some here do.

Myopic, yes -- retarded, no.

Well, that's a load of crap. King David, whether he had a disease or not, wouldn't have been a cro-magnon or neanderthal. The idea that any skeleton that's found differs from us only because of disease is just foolish and frankly rather stupid. You just have to look at the fossils to know they aren't disfigured at all. But why look at the fossils? They can't be what we say they are since the world is only a few thousand years old and the Bible is literally fact.

You want my personal opinion? I don't, either.

In fact, I don't think anyone in the Bible was a Cro-magnon or Neanderthal.

That's because I don't believe in them the way you guys do.

Of course, I don't believe King David was a Homo sapiens, either.

I do believe -- however -- that if they dug up a "Cro-magnon" or "Neanderthal" -- it wouldn't surprise me one bit if it turned out to be King David.
