We know that there is a fire coming that is going to cleanse this world of ALL unGodlyness. I was wondering, if that cleansing fire were to go though this board and burn up any part of these posts that was not of God, what would be left? Would there be anything at all, other than maybe a scripture here and there?

Yes, of course, the whole planet earth is going to go up in flames. According to science the last time this happened was 64 million years ago, when a "doomsday asteroid" hit the plantet and 2/3 of the life was destroyed.

2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

So now the KT asteroid impact is direct vengeance of God?  How is it that the Bible missed telling us about this impact?

 John, you are all over the place on your theology and evolution/creationism. Sometimes you are for a young earth, then other times, like now, you are for an old earth. You started this thread by implying that anything about science would be burned away because it was not "of God" but then you post this scientific tidbit.  Have you ever thought of examining your total mental picture of the universe for internal consistency?

The reason you don't 'get it' is because you do not have the Holy Spirit of God to guide you and to lead you into all righteousness. Your trying to figure it out in your own frail strength and ability and it's just not going to work.

Read the book of Acts, study up on what happened on the day of Pentacost when the church was born. Joel told us many years ago that the gift of the Holy Spirit was going to be given and He was given to the Church, to whosoever is willing to receive Him.

Joel 2:28-29
And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: [29] And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.

Acts 2:17-18
And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God,I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: [18] And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

Do you mean NOVA LIED to us? I guess no one can be trusted.

  • The skies of the Earth exploded into flames
  • Wild fires engulfed the planet's forests
  • The skies were probably darkened for months, possibly for years
  • All kinds of geological disturbances, such as volcanic eruptions and lava flows, were ignited

That was 64 million years ago. What about now?

It does not surprise me that you say they are liers. I would not believe what they said about the Bible. So I guess Nova can not be trusted when they talk about science either. Thanks for pointing out to me that it's all a bunch of lies.

Do you know of anyone anywhere who CAN be trusted to tell us the truth? I sure do not want to be lied to about anything anymore.

Sulphur, is right an asteroid impact wouldn't ignite the world. It could do a lot of things but only a few things can do what you are talking about, and sulphur, mentioned one of them. When the sun turns into a red giant earth will be "ignited."

Agreed. The damage at the point of impact would be catasrophic, but the fires and impact damage wouldn't be what kills us. I wouldn't want to be anywhere near where it hits, but it wouldn't matter.

It's the dust cloud that'll kill us off. The asteroid will kick up a few billion tons of dust that wouldn't settle for months or even years. The dust cloud will block out the sun. No sun = bye bye most of the life on Earth. Evolution will have to start all over again with some bactereria or something.

Just to give you an example, my house has a good view of NYC. after 9/11, Gound zero was smoking for about three weeks. So we can only imagine what a "Doomsday" asteroid would do. . . and it's not pretty.

I'd say that the flames would be in the form of complete thermonuclear meltdown of entire cosmos, earth included (In Christ, i.e, His Sovereign Power;  all things hold together, [Colossians 1:17]atomic nuclei included). On Judgement Day, He is going to release that hold for one awful moment and ...well, then all shall be rebuilt, this time, thoroughly cleansed.

Yes, I know that it is gluons, glueballs or whathaveyou, by which nuclei stay together, however where did those 'gluons' et al, come from? Who or what put them there?
