"Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son: In Whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him: And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist. If you know what's good for you then you won't swing pearls before swine (Matt.7:6)

Simonline.

God hasn't "checked" me yet. I was reborn by God letting me know that Jesus was the Son of God, the divine and eternal Word, existing in the bosom of the Father; with God and was God; in the image of God. We don't fully understand how this can be so even though scripture on the whole is obvious about this since we're temples of God by the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of the Father, the Spirit of His Son. Jesus said I will come to you and never leave you.

Even though it was the Emmanuel scripture that did it for me, God Himself has not stopped confirming this truth and shows me other scriptures from time to time that are not here. While their are surely scoffers who are deceived, I was deceived too.

Let God arise and the liars of deceiving spirits be scattered!

I admire your courage but there are many in here who are not interested in the truth except to trash it and unfortunately the rules of this site are stacked in their favour (though the people who run this site can't see it).

“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.”
1 Tim 2:5-6

“For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.”
1 Tim 2:3-4

“For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.”
1 Tim 4:10

“And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.”
John 4:42

“But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:”
2 Tim 1:10

“For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby He is able even to subdue all things unto himself.”
Phil 3:20-21

All well and good but most Christians are taught 'pop' theology which utterly fails to distinguish between the Son existing as Divine creator [YHWH] and the Son existing as human creature [Jesus of Nazareth] consequently for many Christians 'Jesus' and 'God' are synonymous?!

what kind of being is this Son that exists as Divine creator [YHWH} and also exists as the human creature Jesus? Is the human creature a soul? is YHWH a spirit? which leads to the next question,

What kind of being is the son that exists as a spirit and as a soul? what kind of being can exist as 2 different kinds of beings at the same time? what kind of being is the son?

Yay!!!

In just 73 more posts (1000 total), CF will split this to a new thread!

Isn't that exciting!?
It just goes to show that debates using Scripture is futile since the Scriptures say Jesus is still a man (1 Tim. 2:5) and says Jesus is not a spirit (Luke 24:39). :(

Of course, Luke 24:39 was before His ascension, meaning that it is possible that He became a Spirit as the Scriptures indicate when He was taken up into heaven. :ebil:

All these indicate that He became one with God in immaterialness:

Ephesians 4:10 He who descended is Himself also He who ascended far above all the heavens, so that He might fill all things.)

Colossians 3:11 Christ is all, and in all.

1 Cor. 15:45 So also it is written, "The first MAN, Adam, BECAME A LIVING SOUL " The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.

And compare them to these:

2 Chronicles 6:18 Behold, heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain You; how much less this house which I have built.

Jeremiah 23:24 "Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?" declares the LORD.

Ephesians 4:6 one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all.

It appears to me that what you are doing is equating your interrpreatation of certain scriptures that Jesus is God, with scripture that says Jesus is a man and not a spirit. Doesn't what scripture says have priority over interpretations of scriptures?

:amen:How is it that Christ did not come first and only became a life-giving spirit after his death?

I don't quite understand your question. But I see nothing in the verse indicating when Christ became a life giving spirit except that adam became a living soul when he was created, so I assume that Christ became a life giving spirit at his creation. And that because he is the new creation of god, the beginning of the new creation of god.

I'm thinking your asking me how I can say Christ isn't a spirit now because 1 cor. 15.45 says he is. My answer to that would be that luke 24.39 has Jesus saying he isn't a spirit cause he has flesh and b ones and spirits don't have flesh and bones, which I take literally, and therefore, in order to avoid a contradiction in the bible, I have tot ake 'a life giving sprit' figuratively. looking at verse 44 . it says.
(Rotherham) 1 Corinthians 15:44 It is sown a body of the soul, it is raised a body of the spirit; if there is a body of the soul, there is also of the spirit:--

So I take the meaning to be that the new man, when fully formed, and fully like christ, will still be a man of flesh and bone, but one that is more spiritual than carnal. As new creations of god, we are spiritually minded, and thus have a spiritual life that the old man, the carnal man does not have.

but if one wants to take "a life giving spirit" literally, then one has to reconcile luke 24.39 and 1 tim. 2.5 (which says Jesus is a man) with 1 cor. 15.45 someway. And I can think of no way that is plausible , at least to me.

If there was a Scripture that plainly stated that Jesus always existed, then it wouldn't be so difficult to answer your question. And if Phil. 2:6 didn't use appearance, then your question could have been easily answered. :(

It's a matter of interpretation.

1 Tim. 2:5 is the only Scripture barrier that I have to deal with it if I interpret life giving spirit literally. Luke 24:39 is easily explainable.

Btw, other Scriptures call the Holy Spirit and the Father the life giver:

1 Tim. 6:13 I charge you in the presence of God, who gives life to all things...

This could mean "before God", but it could also be referring to the Holy Spirit, who is the presence of God (Psalm 139:7-8).

Also, if Jesus is still a man, why does 1 Tim. 6:14 say "...the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ"?

But Scripture says when He ascended into heavens, He fills all things. Luke 24:39 was before His ascension.
This illustrates my point. Scripture says in luke 24.39 that that Jesus isn't a spirit. you are using another scripture that says He ascended into heavnes to mean someting, you didn't specify , apparantly that Jesus is a spirit cause he ascended, or Jesus is god cause he ascended. whatever your unnamed interpretation is your setting your interpretation against scripture that says Jesus is not a spirit.

the trinitarian/Jesus is God explanation that
Jesus changed from a soulical being into a spirit being just before he ascended to heaven isn't plausible to me for several reasons. 1. God does not change. 2. if Jesus is a soul as all humans are then a soul doesn't have the power to change into the omnipresent spirit YHWH. So Jesus cannot do that as a man, which he stated he was. 3. no scripture says any animal changed into another animal, or a soul changed into a spirit, or angels changed into men, or men into angels. scripture says god created all animals after their own kind. male and female created he them. females don't change to males and vice versa, and a dog doesn't change to a cat, etc. this whole idea of one being changing into another being smacks very strongly of pagan beliefs. it smacks of reincarnation to me.

and phil. 2.6 doesn't use appearance, it uses the greek word morphe which means form. Prob. you meant another verse we were talking about previously in which the holy spirit appeared to desecnd as a dove. Luke 3.22.

scriptures also say that Jesus is the light and god is the light, but if you look in rev. it says that Jesus is the lamp that the light of God shines through. Jesus and the Father are one. Jesus says what his father gives him to say. Believing on Jesus is not believing on Jesus it's believing on the one who sent him, namely his Father. so likewise, Jesus, the Father and the holy spirit of God the Father all give life. Jesus gives life the same way he is the light, by God shining through him.

Revelation 21:23 And the city hath no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine upon it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the lamp (lucnoV <3088> {LAMP})thereof is the Lamb.ASV

John 9:5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light (fwV <5457> {LIGHT})of the world.KJV

It's two different words, luchnos for lamp and phos for light.

Also, if Jesus is still a man, why does 1 Tim. 6:14 say "...the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ"?

(Rotherham) 1 Timothy 6:14 That thou keep the commandment without spot, free from reproach, until the forthshining of our Lord Jesus Christ--

Rotherham) 2 Thessalonians 2:8 And, then, shall be revealed the lawless one,--whom, the Lord [[Jesus]], will slay with the Spirit of his mouth, and paralyse with the forthshining of his Presence:--

uh oh. now we got that Jesus mouth is a spirit. obviously meant figuratively. life giving spirit---- spirit of his mouth, ----- word of life--------- words come out of the mouth.------- it's all fiting together in a neat figurative package here.

Rootherham says forthshining. if you look at 2 thes. 2.8 the same word is translated brightness in the KJV and it is refering to the same event as 1 tim 6.14. So appearing brightly or shining forth seems to be the probable correct meanting in 1 tim 6.14. I mean when Jesus appears he is going to shine forth he isn't comming all dull and gloomy.

If the saints of God are going to shine forth then surely Jesus is going to shine forth as well

Matthew 13:43 Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He that hath ears, let him hear.

a man can shine forth. Moses shoneforth after being with God on mount sianai. we too will shine forth one day.

1. The Scriptures that say He does not change are talking about His promises. You mean the Scriptures don't have any instances of God changing.

2. That's why God raised Him from the dead. God changed Jesus into Himself because Jesus was Himself before becoming a man.

There's no point in discussing this with Scripture. It's a matter of interpretation, translation, and understanding original words (Hebrew and Greek).

You win.

1. The Scriptures that say He does not change are talking about His promises. You mean the Scriptures don't have any instances of God changing.
god sometimes changes his mind (so to speak, god doesn't really have a mind) but only because we repent or we ask for mercy or something like that.

Malachi 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

the LORD doesn't change, therefore he didn't change into a man. the bible doesn't say god became a man, it says Jesus was begotten, not that Jesus was a changeling. begotten doesn't mean change .
the main "god is not a man" verse actually says.
(Young) Numbers 23:19 God [is] not a man--and lieth, And a son of man--and repenteth! Hath He said--and doth He not do [it]? And spoken--and doth He not confirm it?

ther is one not before a man, lieth, a son of man, and repenteth. So reallly God is saying he isnt a man, doesn't lie, isn't a son of man, and he doesn't repent.
Jpark said:
you say it just means
2. That's why God raised Him from the dead. God changed Jesus into Himself because Jesus was Himself before becoming a man.
So what you're saying means is that a spirit (God) changed into a soul (Jesus), then a spirit (God) changed a soul (Jesus) back to himself a spirit (God). And you don't see why that makes no sense to me?
Jpark said:

one has to make a decision for himself as to which translation is the correct one. one shouldn't say , as you are intimating here, that the correct translation cannot be determined. Only rarely is it true that the correct translation is undeterminable.

well yea, you ducked practically everything I said. one has to counter my claims in order to win a debate. Ducking a debate makes one a loser of the debate.

But on the other hand, I probably have presented you with some things you have never considered before and you would need time to develop a counter arguement, and that isn't likely due to the time factor. And you probablly would only devote the time needed to analyse closely my statements if you were being persuaded by the holy spirit into these truths, and were following the leading of the holy spirit. otherwise, most people aren't going to devote much time to something they dont believe. God isn't going to call someone who is satisfied being a baptist,( if that's where God has called him to be, ) to be a pentecostal. A person has to be dissatisfied with being a baptist before God can lead him into more truth, into the baptism of the holy spirit. Someone disatisfied being a pentecostal, god will show him justifiable reasons to be a baptist, because god doesn't want to force anyone to be something they don't want ot be. If someone doesn't want to be a queen, but wants to be a concubine (song of solomon) god will not force that person to be a queen. D'accord?
