I signed up to this website because when I want to talk about God related issues i have no choice but talk to people online because I don't know anyone else that is a Christian in my life.
I moved to Sydney from Adelaide this year and I hope to one day join a church somewhere but I'm not sure where. I hope I can meet other Christians eventually. It would be nice to get to know other Aussies here.

Hey Purple, did you have a church back home in Adelaide?

My suggestion would be to try and find out all the churches within your local area and then visit each one of them to see what they are like. If you go to google maps you can search for 'churches near [suburb]' and most of the local churches will appear on the map. I moved and wanted a more local church about 18 months ago. Many churches have websites you can look up, and if not just ring to find out the service times. It can be a bit daunting at first but thats my advice... its how I found my church. lol. Good luck :D

I know that feeling, sometimes I feel like the only Christian around too.

You're from my old 'home' for 2 years. I lived in Sydney while I was studying postgrad. Loved it! I met some great people there and joined an Orthodox church. I never really met people my age though from that church, I couldn't really attend Bible study in the evenings as I had classes but I think it's a good idea to join a church. I'm not sure which denomination you are?

Have a look at the churches in your local area and see if there is one that you're comfortable attending and if they do have activities, you can hopefully meet like-minded people that way. Good luck and God bless!

Hi!

I'm in the same boat, I moved back to Australia (Sydney) from Christchurch, NZ in july, and due to some health issues with my husband, haven't had time to do anything, now I have stopped and it's Christmas!

None of my friends are christians here either, only my friends in New Zealand, especially one of my best friends who I met here in Australia previously..she moved to new zealand about 6 months before me..

Although I haven't spent much time on this forum, from what I have seen you will find plenty of lovely like-minded people!

Take care,

Michelle :)

Hello.

I'm from Sydney too and I'm having a similar problem in not being able to find a church that I feel comfortable with. I've been looking for about 12 years. The longest I've stayed at a church is one year, which is impressive!

Its difficult to just burst into a church when you don't know anyone there. Theoretically people should talk to you, but realistically, its hit and miss.

look i know everyone at my church but everyones at least 50 and im 24. So its kinda hard i love my church and they love me but when it comes to christian youth its like i scare them off once they hear of my past and see my tatts. So i find it hard also however i find comfort in knowing my best friend will always be with me and be full of wisdom, faith and love and i would rather have a friend in the father then 1 million mortal friends. So when you feel lonely in fellowship just remember who is with you always!!
