There's a guy who posted a video on youtube saying he didn't believe in Christian rock:

/watch?v=K9NterPXA0A

I said this back to him:

"Four bands: Kutless, Casting Crowns, MercyMe and Third Day. These are all Christian rock bands.

You said: 'You can't take something from the devil, repackage it a little bit, & suddenly it's from God. It doesn't work that way. Yes it works that way, God gave us power over Satan through him. You're obviously s. baptist. Listen, music in itself can't be evil. It is the lyrics and context of what it is played that can make it evil. God is omnipotent, He can use anything to serve Him"

I apreciate all of you,who replyed on this topic!I love the stuff!I remember when I first heard Dion on my Dad's tape player in the car.(he made listening tapes(aka)mix tapes off of reel to reels and records back then)anyways. It had a touch of rock, yet alot of contemporary too.It was from the "Only Jesus" album.Dad had like 3 of his albums,I think(Not counting his oldies ones)! He had one or 2 of those as well.I remember really liking those songs and it sent a powerful message to the non-Believer.I remember Benny Hester on one with Wesley Scott Brown(They are a bit more on the contemporary side)I also remember songs from bands I Don't Know that had a rock feel to them.I used to love secular(or Mainstream,If you will)Music,But It made me feel depressed and Hopeless.I mean It sounded great,But what was the message:Just wanting to be famous:He-said she-said:I hate everything about you:Money:Greed:Booz;Drugs:and most of all- Sex!I said Forget this I need some better stuff to rock out too. There has to be!I already knew who Petra was and had already liked there Music BTW-"Back to the rock"out on Jan.13,2011'on CD!WOOHOO!!!Anyhoo,(hehe)You can't go wrong with music that serves GOD and annoys the WORTHLESS devil!ROCK ON-CHRISTIAN"S!!!

I say used in the right place and time it is good , Paul said that he would do whatever he could to win his kinsman to Christ, even become accursed himself, if possible. so if it wins souls for the Kingdom, and I believe it does, then this is good, My favorite song is Chris Tomblin, " Amazing Grace My Chains are gone: a beautiful mixture of the old and the new. but young people let me remind you that you don't want any of us old folks to force anything on you, for you have your own way of doing things, and so in this sense the old folks don't want you to force your music onto them, no matter how much you love it, so I think if your Church has any elderly folk, then it shouldn't be used in a regular service, for it is an offense to the older generations. I have seen the elder even get up and walk out of services where Christian rock is played. But let her rip, in youth rallies, teen church or anything that is teen focused then go for it. and even mild contemporary will be fine in church services and you can still have your beat, but I strongly disagee with the head banging stuff, in any service where there are any of the older generation at. and just out of respect of our elders this issue shouldn't cause any problems in the Church. their in charge now, If the Lord tarries, your time will come and you can tell your grandkids that their kind of music shouldn't be played in Church
