The days are shorter. More darkness. Already got a bit of snow & freezing. Expect 2 to 4" tonight & I'm already feeling it. My energy level has dropped. I try to do as much outdoor work as I can until the weather makes it impossible. I was moving boulders for landscaping just two weeks ago.

I try to stay busy with my work & art projects in the winter along with Church duties, etc. But I really start feeling like crap.

I hate exercising indoors!

Is there anything you do that helps you along in the winter? Makes you feel more energetic, etc.?

Any suggestions would be great.

Winter gets to me, too. The dark and cold makes a lot of people less energetic and more 'blah'-ish. To counter it, I try and get outside for a walk every single day and just get some sunlight. The more light the better, even if it's cloudy... it still seems to help -- gotta get that vitamin D. It's hard to EXERCISE outside when it's freezing and slippery and snowy, I know. But hey... we've gotta do SOMETHING. :D

Occasionally, I've been known to skate. Quite accidentally. I usually start to slip on ice, and all of a sudden, WHAMMO... I'm doing beautiful pirouettes trying to keep my balance and stay on my feet.

I usually do the same. But being where I am it is sometime impossible. I don't live in the city.

I was so desperate today I bought a Jackie Warner workout tape! I hate indoor exercise. I have considered joining a gym with an indoor pool...

It sounds so funny reading your post about winter....it's the beginning of summer here and we feel exactly the same...no energy, don't want to go outside because it's too "hot" rather than too "cold"
all the same symptoms of the season, except it's hot here instead of cold. L0L

It's a great time to pick up on more devotional time. I'm so happy to have it be Advent already--- the Biblical readings and prayers really help to lighten my down moods. This is also a wonderful time to get into pjs, hop into bed, and read a great book--- perhaps even something from the Saints.

Blessings! ^_^

Keep in mind that the shortest day of the year is December 21, just a couple of weeks away. The cold will endure a lot longer but the light will get longer and longer each day starting on the 22nd. As for the cold, I'm Canadian and find the cold easier to deal with than the heat of summer. When it's cold you just need the proper outerwear. Dress warm, you'll be warm - no matter how cold it is outside. Dress warm and get out of the house, even if it's just for a walk. It will do wonders. There's not much worse than being cooped up in the house for 3 or 4 months.

The winter isn't here yet and let me just tell you what it's like here at this time of year.

Well today is 72 degrees. Thanksgiving day was 73, ? I believe.

The night of thanksgiving, temps went down and by morning, it was in the 40's.

We had that for a couple days and then it went up to 70 again but just for one day, the next day it went back to the 40's again and it was that way for a couple of nights and now today it is 72 again and it is supposed to stay this way until Monday evening and then it will be in the low 30's. A light freeze for south of the Lake and a hard freeze for the north shore.

You could always go to Australia! lol
But I'm going through the same thing though...

I'm in Germany and it's getting really cold! It's been snowing the last few days as well. I thought it was awesome at first, because I'm not used to that kind
of weather (I'm originally from Texas) but now I'm kinda over it lol

What I have been doing during this kind of weather is watching alot of movies, especially Christmas movies.. and have even been putting one on, and then exercising in front of the tv. I have an exercise mat and I do
situps, pushups, etc.. Also, a gym is always a good option. Most gyms still stay open during this kind of weather.. I know that ours does.
