But I think it means to praise Him with everything you've got.
So 'this' is what you believe pleases God?

Now, as for having musical instruments in worship--No. We are not commanded to have them, we are commanded to "sing and make melody in our hearts",
uhhh.. sing and make melody "IN OUR HEARTS" mean's what?

and "liking the sound of it" is not a reason to add something to worship of which we were not given the rights to do so.
You think folks worship God with instruments because THEY like the sound of it?
I heard someone say that they "prefer" chanting iirc.
Other than that, I think people are talking about what the Bible says.

When it comes to worship, I think we should be as close as possible as we can and give God the glory in the way that He wants...He does have the right to ask us to worship in the way that He wants...I mean, His Son did die for us, if it pleases Him for us to "sing and make melody" in our hearts, then we should go for it, because He likes it. :)
And.. how does one "sing and make music IN OUR HEART"?

God tells us to sing, it is a command from Him.
He says that "if I love Him then keep His commandments", so then I'll do just that.

uhhh.. sing and make melody "IN OUR HEARTS" mean's what?
Ephesians 5:19-21
19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, 20 giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 21 submitting to one another in the fear of God.
I didn't make that verse up, and I'll allow the Holy Spirit to interpret it for you.

You think folks worship God with instruments because THEY like the sound of it? I heard someone say that they "prefer" chanting iirc.

Right, and under the new covenant the bible does not say to praise God with instruments when we are in worship. It is not our opinions and taste that should justify our reasons for doing things that is not given to us, about worship, in scripture. It's imperative that we do as He says because that's what we know that glorifies Him.

And.. how does one "sing and make music IN OUR HEART"?
Seriously?
Have you ever song a hymn to the Lord? You know that joyful feeling that you have, because you are singing to Him with all sincerity and pure intent and not going through the motions of it, that's to me is the melody in your heart part but again allow the Holy Spirit to interpret it for you.

Hi,

God has set boundaries as to how He wants His children to worship Him. When those boundaries are crossed then you would enter a universe of opinions and ANYTHING goes where you can do WHATEVER you want to do. This is what some want worship God to be a free-for-all where you can do WHATEVER you feel like doing...does not matter what God said.
You've already admitted that it's not written.

Well this is written:

Praise ye Jah! Praise ye God in His holy place,
Praise Him in the expanse of His strength.

Praise Him in His mighty acts,
Praise Him according to the abundance of His greatness.

Praise Him with blowing of trumpet,
Praise Him with psaltery and harp.

Praise Him with timbrel and dance,
Praise Him with stringed instruments and organ.

Praise Him with cymbals of sounding,
Praise Him with cymbals of shouting.

All that doth breathe doth praise Jah!
Praise ye Jah!

I see.
Perhaps you feel that there was some law in the OT to use instruments
and now that "law" is done away with in the NC..

God ordained the use of instruments .
Do you know what he created them for?
Same thing He created us for:

1 Praise the LORD. Praise the LORD from the heavens;
praise him in the heights above.
2 Praise him, all his angels;
praise him, all his heavenly hosts.
3 Praise him, sun and moon;
praise him, all you shining stars.
4 Praise him, you highest heavens
and you waters above the skies.

5 Let them praise the name of the LORD,
for at his command they were created,
6 and he established them for ever and ever—
he issued a decree that will never pass away.

7 Praise the LORD from the earth,
you great sea creatures and all ocean depths,
8 lightning and hail, snow and clouds,
stormy winds that do his bidding,
9 you mountains and all hills,
fruit trees and all cedars,
10 wild animals and all cattle,
small creatures and flying birds,
11 kings of the earth and all nations,
you princes and all rulers on earth,
12 young men and women,
old men and children.

13 Let them praise the name of the LORD,
for his name alone is exalted;
his splendor is above the earth and the heavens.
14 And he has raised up for his people a horn,

the praise of all his faithful servants,
of Israel, the people close to his heart.

Praise the LORD.

I'm not going to argue with you what is in the New Covenant. I don't see a scripture that tells us to use instrumental music when we worship God in the New Testament and therefore I'm not going to do it. I think we should praise God with everything we have, but when it comes to a corporate worship, I fully believe we should do as we have been commanded. There is a time and place for everything and God have set the perimeters for worship.

The bible does not tell us to use instruments in worship, so therefore I don't.

At some point you might begin to realize we are not a people of the book like the Israelites and the law of moses, and have been birthed into being led by His Spirit.

Those led by The Spirit of GOD are the sons of GOD. If you are waiting for a book to tell you everything in this Christian life, then obviously you are not being led by His Spirit.

It was His word that told me about Christ and have lead me to Him. :) That book have never failed me so therefore I'm going to continue to trust in what it says and how He wants me to live this Christian life. It was the book that told me how to receive the Holy Spirit (through baptism), it was the book that tells me that the Holy Spirit interprets the mind of God (1 Corinthians 2) and it was the book that told me His love for me and it is the book that told me what I need to do to repent of my sins and How He wants me to live this life. I love this book, I love God's word.

Im sure that there's not a thing wrong with accapella onlyism.

That's great, but we don't place it in between GOD and us, nor do we only do what it says and not seek GOD on directions from HIM.

Not everything we will deal with is in our bible, so HE is foremost before the book, just like HE wanted it.

God can do the condemning but I will not do the condoning when it speaks about worship and what is written for us in the new testament. You have a bless night.

Let everything ... praise God.
Under the Old Law, God did not ordain or command worship with instrumental music. When it was written in Psalm 150, it also didn't tell us to worship that way when we come together as a body to have corporate worship. The same way that Aaron sister praised God with her dancing doesn't mean it tells us to do so in a corporate worship.

We praise God everyday of our lives, when we come together as a body and worship God, we most certain are given things to follow as what God wants. I'm not told in the word of God, which most certainly did tell me of His love, to worship God with instrumental music under the new covenant, and therefore I will not do so.

The only time we actually see people using instrumental music under the Old law, was after they won a war and they were having a celebration....(Both from Aaron's sister (her name escapes me now) and David) we aren't told about instrumental music in the synagogues when the Israelites worshiped with each other. So, forgive me, if I'm not all for worshiping with instruments. If someone is going to play an instrument, by all means, Praise God with it...I used to play the Clarinet so I understand being musically inclined, but don't look at me to condone such a thing when we come together as a body to have corporate worship.

So you don't agree that it was God who ordained worship with instruments?
Under the OLD LAW, no He did not ordain musical instruments.
If He did ordain musical instruments, it would be in Exodus-Deuteronomy, so if it is in there and I have missed it, please enlighten me.

Under the NEW LAW, no, He did not ordain musical instruments. If it is in there, please englighten me. And I mean that in the most sincerest way possible if I am misunderstanding something in God's word, explain through scripture.
