the Sun & Moon Standing Still

There are events in the Bible that are supernatural, unexplainable, acts of God. Did they literally happen. I say yes...until I am given an explanation, found in His word as revealed by the Holy Spirit of the event meaning something figurative, and until then...I accept it as written. Paul wrote that the natural happens first, as an example to us, and then the event it foretells happens spiritually. The natural event was a shadow, or type, of what was to come in the spiritual, figurative sense.
Two of these events concern the sun, when it stood still and when it went back ten degrees. The events are written of....
I accept those events as written. How it happened...I have no idea. There is an e-mail that has been making the rounds for some time now that refers to this (I have no idea if the following is or is not true but quote it here for you to consider.)

Mr. Harold Hill, President of the Curtis Engine Company in Baltimore, Maryland, and a consultant in the space program, relates the following development.

'I think one of the most amazing things that God has done for us today happened recently to our astronauts and space scientists at Green Belt, Maryland .

They were checking out where the positions of the sun, moon, and planets would be 100 years and 1,000 years from now. We have to know this so we won't send up a satellite and have it bump into something later on in its orbits.

We have to lay out the orbits in terms of the life of the satellite and where the planets will be so the whole thing will not bog down..

They ran the computer measurement back and forth over the centuries, and it came to a halt. The computer stopped and put up a red signal, which meant that there was something wrong with either the information fed into it or with the results as compared to the standards.
They called in the service department to check it out, and they said, 'What's wrong?' Well, they found there is a day missing in space in elapsed time.

They scratched their heads and tore their hair out. There was no answer.

Finally a Christian man on the team said, 'You know, one time I was in Sunday School, and they talked about the sun standing still.' While they didn't believe him, they didn't have an answer either, so they said, 'Show us, '

He got a Bible and went to the book of Joshua where they found a pretty ridiculous statement for any one with 'common sense.'

There they found the Lord saying to Joshua,

'Fear them not, I have delivered them into thy hand; there shall not a man of them stand before Thee.'

Joshua was concerned because he was surrounded by the enemy! And if darkness fell, they would overpower them. So Joshua asked the Lord to make the sun stand still! That's right... 'The sun stood still and the moon stayed and lasted not to go down about a whole day!'
(Joshua 10:12-13)

The astronauts and scientists said, There is the missing day! They checked the computers going back into the time it was written and found it was close but not close enough. The elapsed time that was missing back in Joshua's day was 23 hours and 20 minutes. not a whole day.

They read the Bible, and there it was about [approximately] a day. These little words in the Bible are important, but they were still in trouble because if you cannot account for 40 minutes, you'll still be in trouble 1000 years from now.

Forty minutes had to be found because it can be multiplied many times over in orbits. As the Christianemployee thought about it, he remembered somewhere in the Bible where it said the sun went BACKWARDS.

The scientists told him he was out of his mind, but they got out the Book and read these words in 2 Kings that told of the following story: Hezekiah, on his death bed, was visited by the prophet Isaiah who told him that he was not going to die. Hezekiah asked for a sign as proof. Isaiah said 'Do you want the sun to go ahead 10 degrees?'

Hezekiah said, 'It is nothing for the sun to go ahead 10 degrees, but let the shadow return backward 10 degrees.' Isaiah spoke to the Lord, and the Lord brought the shadow ten degrees BACKWARD! Ten degrees is exactly 40 minutes!'

Twenty-three hours and 20 minutes in Joshua, plus 40 minutes in Second Kings make the missing day in the universe! Isn't it amazing?

As a side note to this, one that shows His working on a much smaller, yet still amazing scale....I had the above NASA information stored on my computer. I'm unable to use it presently because of some glitch so I'm working on a laptop and had given up on the idea of accessing the file. This morning, as I'm writing this thread my daughter called telling me to check my e-mail. She said a friend sent this amazing information about the sun standing still that she wanted to tell me about.

So, here it is....God supplied this and with a wonderful sense of timing!



There is another mention of the sun and moon standing still but with it....I see it in a completely figurative way. That is what this thread concerns:

Habakkuk 3:11 The sun and moon stood still in their habitation: at the light of Thine arrows they went, and at the shining of Thy glittering spear.



There is so much being taught in that one verse, so much for us to understand:
When reading the above verse I ask....does this say that the literal sun and moon stand still? No, I think not so then I question....who then does the sun and moon represent, who is....the Sun and who is the Moon, or of whom are they symbolic? The sun lights the world and who is the Light of the world and who is it's Darkness, the darkness that in it's attempt to shed light is only able to reflect that of the Son/Sun? In other words, a false light...deception is the light of the moon.

Who are those inhabited by the two, Jesus and Satan, the Sun and Moon, for they "stood still IN" those they inhabit, (IN their habitation?) Stood still means, "to remain, take a stand." They take a stand in us...children of God or...the other guys.
They stand still until, "the light and shining of thine arrows and glittering spear." Then they....
The "woundest the head," brings to mind.....And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. [Rev.13:3] The "wicked," those rejoicing to devour the poor, are....the beast. They attempt this devouring secretly, (the beast works secretly by controlling world powers....those controlling powers that are very evident today even though their leader(s) are still secret....Finance, Education, Religion, Politics.)
They, the wicked beast, rejoice in that deception and are secretly hidden today (in plain sight) devouring God's children. We again read of this in.....
The mystery/secret of iniquity/wicked is at work today and the wicked beast takes "pleasure in unrighteousness," for their "rejoicing was to devour the poor secretly." The "brightness of His coming" speaks of.....





"The Sun and Moon stood still in their habitation," in their followers, as they prepared for battle. But what of the rest of that verse? "At the light of Thine arrows they went, and at the shining of Thy glittering spear." The definitions are....
The Sun and Moon stood still in their followers until "the light of Thine arrows" and "the shining of Thy glittering spear." Then, when that event happens....they went! What does "the light and shining" of His arrows and glittering spear mean?
Is a glittering sword the same as a glittering spear? From the descriptions given they appear to mean different things...perhaps the difference being when they are used? My interpretation would be that the spear is Satan's tool used to deceive from a distance...before he appears in the last days. The sword, used for hand-to-hand combat is his to use during the great tribulation...his time before the final trumpet.
Both glitter but it is the sword that is "furbished." It is the sword that is made bare...polished, for all eyes to see. To me, this is telling us the glittering sword, which shall be placed in the hand of the slayer, is his ability to deceive the world with it's glittering for it is the glittering that consumes. Glittering being...lightning flashes.


The sword in the hand of the slayer, the sword God allows him to use, slaughters and consumes Gods people BECAUSE of the glittering. (We must never forget...all that glitters is not gold!) Because of the lightning! What is the lighting?
Angelic beings, both good and evil, are lightning!


The king of Babylon is a type for Satan. We see that as he stands at the "parting of the way, head of two ways," it is decision time! He "makes his arrows bright." Both the Sun and the Moon have arrows! Satan makes his arrows bright to deceive. Jesus makes His arrows bright, with His glorious Light, to save. This is the time foretold in the beginning verse, [Hab.3:11] "at the light of Thine arrows they went." This is the time of the "latter rain" written of in Joel...when His arrows are filled with understanding from the Holy Spirit, when we are given Light...when our lamps are filled as we await the Bridegroom.

Judah (house of Judah - Jews) are His bow, Ephraim (house of Israel - Christians), are His arrows and the sons of Zion, (the man child), is His sword that fights against the sons of Greece (heathen followers of Satan).

Who are the "whirlwinds of the south?" South, as used there is Teman and we're told [Hab.3:3], "God came from Teman.....")
