Movies that Made You Cry...

Oh geez, that film is like "The Killing Fields" to me...just one long depressing ride. Good movie, don't get me wrong - John Hurt is an awesome (if not underrated) actor - but man some parts of that film just make you sad.

The animated Disneys/Pixars do it to me every time...

The finale of "Cars" kinda made me teary-eyed. I won't give it away here for those who haven't seen it, but I will say that it wasn't necessarily SAD, but it was heart-warming.

Saving Private Ryan

And the first two to ever make me cry were Vietnam War story movies, Uncommon Valor and Heroes (don't recall what I saw first). Heroes was first movie where most people saw Henry Winkler not play the Fonz.

The part that really did it for me was when he said, "I am not an animal. I am a human being." That hit me like a ton of bricks.

UP: the first 10 minutes, and Carl "rediscovering" the book

YES. When I first saw it with my niece, I turned to her and was like "Can they even make an animated movie this sad??" What a great movie though. :)

My hardest part was where the mob mocks and harasses him up in his room. It's essentially a long, drawn out "let's make fun of the physically challenged guy" scene that's difficult to watch, and sometimes I have to shut my eyes watching it.

Funny thing is a long time ago I read the short biography of the real guy, and apparently his life wasn't all that depressing (he actually enjoyed working at a freak show, and did so willingly). Still, good movie. David Lynch knows how to make a film.

Yeah, they have to make it as gut-wrenching as possible, even if the truth was the exact opposite. :D

Although it made me kinda mad after reading the biography. My immediate thought after reading it was something like, "Dang it, Lynch! You made me cry for no reason!!" Then I saw "Blue Velvet" and all was good between us again.

Funny thing is I've seen films where they took a sad/bittersweet ending in the original story/book and made it happy and that ticked me off too. Examples include "And Then There Were None," "The Time Machine," the Disney version of "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," etc. I guess sad movies can still work if the story works with it.

Then, there was a crying-in-a-movie that was stopped cold for me by some unfeeling audience member:

(If you love the movie "Ghost" and don't want it totally destroyed for you, STOP READING NOW!!!)

In the scene when Sam jumps into Oda Mae's body in order to touch and hug Molly, someone sitting behind me said, "If she opens her eyes and sees Whoopi Goldberg, I'm gonna hurl!"

You big baby. *lol*

What about Audrey Liddell and Pacey or Jack McPhee and Joey or Jack and Doug or Andie McPhee and Pacey or Abby Morgan and Jack or her untimely drowning or Deputy Doug Witter and Tamara Jacobs or how he's helping to raise Jen's Child or Bessie Potter and Bodie and running Potter's B'n'B or when she delivered her baby with Jen's help or Mr. Mitchell Leery and Mrs. Leery and the jealousy he had over her affair and the divorce and remarriage and their new baby Lily only to suffer a tragic death by a drunk driver and Evelyn Ryan relationship with Jen and her recovery from cancer or Pacey Witter and Andie or with Joey or Jennifer Lindley and Dawson?

Have you even watched every show?

Wow I am impressed with your DC knowledge. Hmmm, are you secretly James Van Der Beek? :eheh:

Another film that always turns on the waterworks - It's A Wonderful Life. I know I said I don't cry in front of other people but the end of that film is the nearest I get to it :unbelievable:

Stepmom...I think I cried throughout the entirety.

Hope Floats...Ugh, the part where Bernice is screaming at her dad to take her with him and he just gets in the car and drives off!! I switch from crying hysterically to wanting to jump through that screen and junk punch him in his man business.

OMGosh, I forgot about The Lion King. I always cried when Mufasa dies. I was a kid, then, though. :D

I forgot about the movie that started the water works. I cried through the majority of the rest of the movie. Through the rest of the movie just kept thinking "how can you (Simba) be laughing or smilling? You're dad just died!!"

Dawsons Creek was an awesome show, and in my opinion it was Pacey and Joey all the way (just felt like throwing that in there).

As for movies that make me cry?

I knew a girl at SCAD who had a real stepmom. When that movie came out and was advertised as a feel good family film, her stepmom said, "Let's go see that! It'll be our movie!" They both left the theater feeling rather awkward. :p

Oh my. I hate to laugh at that but that is kind of funny. That is just awful. It should most definitely never be anyones movie hahaha

Ponette- I cried two minutes into the movie and didn't stop crying the rest of the way.

The Decalogue I- Powerful and yes, I cried like a baby.
The Decalogue-II- Yeah, I cried for this too.

I'm nuts about almost all of those episodes, but I don't remember getting teary-eyed.

Okay, here goes:

Gallipoli (watch it and you'll know which part)

Good Will Hunting (two scenes -- Will and Skylar's fight and the infamous "It's not your fault" scene)

It's a Wonderful Life (probably not the part you think; it's George Bailey as a little boy getting slapped around by the pharmacist, crying, "My ear!" and then trying to explain why he didn't deliver the medicine)

You Can Count On Me(The bus stop scene)

Birdy (The scene which begins with Perta flying around the neighborhood)

Other movies have made me cry as one-offs (The Bicycle Thieves, The Big Chill, ET, Christmas in July), but these are the ones that, time and time again, bring on the tears.
