First, let me start off by saying, not only is this a Christian forum (which would, to me, make sense that most of the members here are Christians, thus me not having to go through and weed out the comments made by non Christians and exclude them.) but secondly and more importantly, because non Christians are more than welcome to post anywhere, other than when some one ends the post by saying, "Anyway, what do other Christians think here?"
That should indicate that he's not interested in what Agnostics or Atheists have to say.
Thus, when people reply, it will be because they're giving their CHRISTIAN opinion.
Seems to me that if you are a (1) non Christians with (2) non Christian morals, you asked to get disagreed with.
However, in reply,
Sorry champ. I don't worship, let alone repent to small gods.
You think He's a small God until you stand before Him in all of His Almighty power, and as you're unable to bear the wrath of his mighty and fierce vengeance he mocks you, unless you come to accept His mercy now.
Proverbs 1:24 "Because I have called and you refused, I have stretched out my hand and no one regarded, Because you disdained all my counsel, And would have none of my rebuke, I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your terror comes, When your terror comes like a storm, And your destruction comes like a whirlwind, When distress and anguish come upon you. “ Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me. Because they hated knowledge And did not choose the fear of the LORD, They would have none of my counsel And despised my every rebuke."
Psalm 2: "The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying, “Let us break Their bonds in pieces And cast away Their cords from us.”
He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; The Lord shall hold them in derision. Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, And distress them in His deep displeasure:"
Mourn what depravity? Just because some guy 2000 year ago had some sort of vision and considered himself the King of Morality doesn't mean I should follow him, let alone take him seriously. If I were to take him seriously under such flimsy criteria, I might as well also follow all the Muhammed and Joseph Smith's of the world as well.
Flimsy? I don't even have time to get into an argument here with you about the validity of the Bible and His claims, even by secular historians. Have you ever done your research on the matter? Obviously not.
Here's one clearly logical way to show it wasn't real.
Let's say it was all a lie. Everything in the Bible.
People generally don't lie about things that get them killed, so Jesus died (historically) to say He was God, that would have been foolish.
How much more foolish would a bunch of people (Peter and the Apostles, Paul and Jesus' family to name a few, and the other witnesses that died to the Jews or the early persecution) have to be to KNOW that Jesus didn't rise from the dead, but still chose to die for that lie?
Almost ALL the early Church history is verifiable, some even by secular historians.
What idiots if it wasn't real. Yeah?
As for your dog comment, I have some choice words for you as well if you decide to continue your derogatory garbage.
Nothing derogatory about it. By definition of that word as used by Paul, you are.
Homosexuality occurs in nature ergo, it is not unnatural.
Unless it comes to matters of medicine, finance, or technology. Jus sayin'
Some choose to trust in the Lord in matters of medicine, not everyone when they get sick runs straight to the doctor, or when they don't have money freak out. Seems like you've failed at logic by presenting a faulty premise. I know Christians both deathly sick and struggling financially, respectively, and trusting in the Lord to solve the matter, and I've seen the Lord do both without medical attention or over burdening themselves to make ends meet.
But of course, that's foolish, right?
You make a blind assumption that all are the same, and when they're not, it's foolishness. Which is what Paul says,
1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
Ever notice that couples over 40 have a higher rate of producing children with down syndrome? Ever notice that lesbian sex is safer than homosexual or hetro sex? Ever notice that homosexuality is evident in nature?
Honestly, you've failed at logic.
Ever notice how homosexuality has widely spread STDs? Ever notice how homosexuals have higher rates of STDs than heterosexuals?
From the CDC:
"Gay and bisexual men — referred to in CDC surveillance systems as men who have sex with men (MSM)"
MSM account for nearly half of the more than one million people living with HIV in the U.S. (48%, or an estimated 532,000 total persons).
MSM account for more than half of all new HIV infections in the U.S. each year (53%, or an estimated 28,700 infections).
While CDC estimates that MSM account for just 4 percent of the U.S. male population aged 13 and older, the rate of new HIV diagnoses among MSM in the U.S. is more than 44 times that of other men (range: 522–989 per 100,000 MSM vs. 12 per 100,000 other men).
MSM is the only risk group in the U.S. in which new HIV infections are increasing. While new infections have declined among both heterosexuals and injection drug users, the annual number of new HIV infections among MSM has been steadily increasing since the early 1990s."
And that's just HIV
Seems like you make logic sound like whatever you want it to be, the case here isn't lesbians, it's homosexuals as a whole.
Here you go
URL
Now its your turn.
To be honest, I don't feel like reading 10 pages of something I really don't care about, but from what I read, "No simple, single cause for sexual orientation has been conclusively demonstrated, but research suggests that it is by a combination of genetic, hormonal, and environmental influences" because there is no simple answer. Genetics could have a HUGE impact on homosexuals while still not having anything to do with them being "born gay", and on top of that, the highest percentage of any study thus far has been 50%, with other things still factoring in.
It goes on to say that "Women showed a statistically non-significant trend to weaker influence of hereditary effects, while men showed no effect of shared environmental effects."
While researching on my phone while at an appointment yesterday, I noticed and then researched further. The majority of homosexuals claim that they "knew they were gay" at a young age, generally under 10 years old, generously. The answer most gave was between the ages of 6 and 7. Some comments include, "I'm a open gay male age 48. I knew I was different even at age six than my male friends", another "I am a 28 year old woman and I have known I was homosexual since I was about six years old.", et al.
Many have had sexual abuse from same or different sex parents or others, and 90% of strippers/prostitutes come from a past of sexual abuse at a young age. Do you not think that this may have something to do with it? How can you know you're gay at the age of six? Seriously? Give me a break, please.
Blindish post: but I can't understand why anyone would be so concerned about the sex life of two (or more) consenting adults that they would feel the need to continue bashing it, and getting personal with fluffy heart insults to those who are indifferent.
Is it because they're not getting any? I'm sorry, but I cannot understand why anyone would spend hours arguing or looking up appropriate Bible verses to 'prove' someone's sex life is not just according to their moral code.
When you step into a world you're not familiar with, of course you're not going to understand the rules, however, you do KNOW fully. You may not understand, because of the verse Paul says above.
As a follower of Jesus, our (Yours, mine and the worlds) Lord and only Savior, He has told us things we can not do and follow Him, and they are all for our good. Jesus Christ is not an enemy of happiness, but He is an enemy of things that are sin, which leads to destruction of our bodies.
I personally am not interested in anyones sex life, but as a follower of Christ, I am concerned and hope and pray that everyone will live a life pleasing to the Lord, which is one that will bring most joy to everyone.
And my past sinful life is not for discussion, but I assure you, what you suggested not be the case. The reason is this, the Lord hath said it was wrong, and it is not appropriate for CHRISTAINS (which is the main audience of this forum and suppose to have been for this thread.) And I don't spend hours looking up verses, one should know them already.
(with love)
I have that version. However I do not know other translated words that supposedly tell us what other words in the Bible mean... like that one word you used before but i dont remember what it is now though.
Different versions translate the same word differently, the NKJV is the most easy to understand, but more importantly, most accurate and complete Bible there is. If you want to discuss this matter, please PM me, this is not the place for that. But trust me on that or allow me to show you.
Does the Bible specificly state that homosexual offender means that?
And how do you know that homosexuality is referred to as sexual immorality?
I don't know what verse you're referring to or what translations you have. I'll assume you mean 1 Corinthians 6:9, the NKJV says "homosexuals" the KJV says "effeminate", the Greek word is μαλακός literally means
"metaph. in a bad sense
a) effeminate
1) of a catamite
2) of a boy kept for homosexual relations with a man
3) of a male who submits his body to unnatural lewdness
4) of a male prostitute"
Also, when the Bible mentions "FORNICATION", the Greek word is "πορνεία" which is "inappropriate contenteia" (where we get the word "inappropriate content" from) and is a junk box word, which means all things outside of heterosexual sex between consenting adults,
"1) illicit sexual intercourse
a) adultery, fornication, homosexuality, lesbianism, intercourse with animals etc.
b) sexual intercourse with close relatives; Lev. 18
c) sexual intercourse with a divorced man or woman; Mk. 10:11,12
2) metaph. the worship of idols
a) of the defilement of idolatry, as incurred by eating the sacrifices offered to idols"
The Bible beats homosexuality to death.
You quote verses talking about righteousness but how do you know its unrighteous just because it was mentioned in the OT. I was talking to my boyfriend earlier today and told him about the NT verses about homosexuality (no he isn't homosexual. he just debates with me, lol) and he said "But they aren't Jesus' words." What am I supposed to say to that?
It's not only in the Old Testament, but plainly in the New. Do you have a problem with Romans 1? You've failed to acknowledge after I've quoted it several times, clearly describing the act.
Verse 24: "Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due."
v32 "who, knowing the righteous judgment of God,
that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them."
Not only did Jesus endorse the Mosaic law "It is written.." (during the temptation of Jesus by Satan,) "Good teacher, what must I do to be good? So Jesus said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God." "You know the commandments: 'Do not commit adultery,' 'Do not murder,' 'Do not steal,' 'Do not bear false witness,' 'Honor your father and your mother.'!", et al. (It would have been pointless and a waste of time for Jesus to reiterate every single law that must have been followed, because, well, that's what the Old Testament was for, aka the Hebrew Bible.)
The Holy Apostles, Jesus promised, would be
John 16:13
"However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for
He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come."
John 14:26
"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name,
He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you."
We also know because of Paul, "All scripture is God breathed and useful for correcting, rebuking and training in righteousness", therefore, Paul and Peter and the Apostle's words were as good as Jesus', because the same Spirit was guiding them all, the one that guided the Christ. To say that theirs is not valid is to say that God is a liar when He said the Spirit would come and remind them of all things.
