This is just too good to pass up...

First of all I feel honored that scoffers such as myself are able to come between you and your God so easily.

Second, your reasoning seems to stack the deck against new converts. What you seem to be saying (it's always hard to tell), is that the further one is from "perfection," the less clear God's mind is. Rather like a radio our of range, I'd imagine.

On the other hand, those who are closer to perfection, such as yourself, get the message loud and clear, give or take a little static from your exposure to us.

Well then, wouldn't that mean that God's message gets scrambled worst to the people who need it the most?  Whereas folks such as yourself practically have Him on speed-dial?

Sounds fair to me.

Oh yes, by all means the nonsense here is a special nonsense. If it were generic nonsense I most likely would not pay any attention to it at all. If you listen to people's opinions, you take a chance on them having a effect on the way you think. As a christian I do not want man's thoughts in my head, I want to think God's divine thoughts. Like love your neighbor, do good to others, and so forth.

Philip. 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy -- meditate on these things.

We are to listen to good reports and I try to avoid newpapers as much as I can, they are filled with bad reports.

Obvious and inescapable conclusion - you do not have the "mind of Christ and the divine thoughts of God".  Or, if you do, God is imperfect.

Also, I spend to much time listening to your guys nonsense.

Gee, thanks.  :)

Well, if you're getting simple stuff like lottery numbers wrong, isn't it foolish to trust rather more crucial information?

Cheers,

Well... if I say that people and nations should not use weapons of mass destruction (nerve gas, biological weapons, nuclear weapons, etc.) in times of warfare, then should you not listen to my ramblings since such a topic is not addressed in the Bible and will therefor further seperate you from God?

God can unscramble people pretty quick if they would just go off by themselves and read their Bible and allow the Holy Spirit to help them to understand it.

What causes problems is if you let others give you their opinion of the Bible. To many people try to figure it out on their own, apart from God, using human logic and reason and that does not work.

John, where are you getting your information from?  This just seems a little bit weird to me.

Why does God need people to "go off by themselves"?  Why does he need people to do anything?  Did I read somewhere that he is omnipotent?  If God wants it done, it is done, right?

You are to be congratulated, then.  You have shown us only too clearly and only too frequently that you have absolutely eschewed the use of logic and reason.  Well done.  :)

Some Christian look a the negitive endtime signs. The wars and the rumors of war. I do not pay much attention to that. I look at what God is doing in this world.

Matthew 24:6-7 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. [7] For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.

Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.

You see, I do not allow myself to be troubled by wars and rumors of war. I concentrate on the gospel of the kingdom being preached in all the world.

Maybe mans logic and reason. But God has logic and reason also.

Isaiah 1:18
"Come now, and let us reason together,"
    Says the Lord,
"Though your sins are like scarlet,
    They shall be as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson,
    They shall be as wool.

Why do you have so much trouble to see that man is in a fallen state and in need of redemption and restoration? Are you that happy with the way this world is and the way people treat each other? You seem to be a pretty decent guy, but not everyone treats others as good as you do.

The point of my post was that the Bible does not express an opinion about the use of weapons of mass destruction during war. Therefor, such an idea is one of "man's thoughts". Does that mean that you should not listen to a person, expressing his belief that such weapons should not be used in war, because it will further seperate you from God. My post had nothing to do with the endtimes or even "rumors of wars". I was merely asking if listening to the philosophy of banning weapons of mass destruction seperated a Christian from God because it is an idea of earthly origins.

Oh, I don't have any difficulty seeing that humanity has its problems - but I do not ascribe any supernatural reason to that.  Why should I?  I've had no good reason too.  I used to, I suppose, when I was a Christian, but seeing that bad things happen to everyone regardless of piety and faith caused me to critically examine those beliefs.

As for your assertion that we are fallen and in need of redemption - aside from Genesis, what else is there to suggest this?

Thanks for saying so, but I'm really no different from everyone else.  We all just want to get along as best we can. (Although, I must admit that the anonymity of the net can lead people to behave more rudely than otherwise they might).

To answer your question - yes, I suppose I am happy with the way this world is.  It's not perfect, but I'm happy to be alive and in it.

Thanks Prax. I try. It's my own take on Pascal's Wager: If there is a God, He will most likely drop-kick me into the abyss for my scoffing... So if I'm going down for it anyway, I might as well do it right! :p

For once, we agree. I've seen far too much "human logic and reason that does not work," as certain people try (poorly) to enforce an outrageous, illogical, contradictory, and often self-serving interpretation of the Bible on the rest of us.

Of course, since their interpretations can't even stand up to human logic, how can they be true according to divine logic? And yet these people evade the issue by claiming that their information comes to them from "The Holy Spirit," so it must be true.

Now let me ask... do we know anyone specific on these boards who fits that description? Hmmm...?

Okay, what makes you think that your interpretation of the Bible is God's Word, whereas, seebs' or wildernesse's (who disagree with you about, say, the purpose of Genesis) isn't?

I always find christians who insist that their personal intepretations of scripture are God's interpretations of scripture haughty and blashphemous.
