Isaiah 43:19 (King James Version)

Gave this to a friend last night who was wondering about "purification" in the afterlife.

For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility. [Ephesians 2:14-16; ESV]

Ecclesiastes 5


2 Do not be quick with your mouth,
do not be hasty in your heart
to utter anything before God.
God is in heaven
and you are on earth,
so let your words be few.

3 As a dream comes when there are many cares,
so the speech of a fool when there are many words.

4 When you make a vow to God, do not delay in fulfilling it. He has no pleasure in fools; fulfill your vow. 5 It is better not to vow than to make a vow and not fulfill it. 6 Do not let your mouth lead you into sin. And do not protest to the temple messenger, "My vow was a mistake." Why should God be angry at what you say and destroy the work of your hands? 7 Much dreaming and many words are meaningless. Therefore stand in awe of God.

ugh. He just picks things you know. He always picks what I have to read the nights I am not feeling myself.

1 Corinthians 4.

Here's a little bit of it..
6Now, brothers, I have applied these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, so that you may learn from us the meaning of the saying, "Do not go beyond what is written." Then you will not take pride in one man over against another. 7For who makes you different from anyone else? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not?

The part that says "What do you have that you did not receive?" struck me.. all that we have are Gifts from God! We didn't get them by our own effort.. we got it by God's grace.

Here is something (out of many things!) that I'm weak in and struggle with..

But I can't do it alone anyways! And if anyone sees any good in me, it's not from me.. that's for sure! It's the Holy Spirit in me, it's the work of God, it's His Grace.. there's no other way.

But he's already made it plain how to live, what to do, what God is looking for in men and women. It's quite simple: Do what is fair and just to your neighbor, be compassionate and loyal in your love, And don't take yourself too seriously— take God seriously. Micah 6:8 The Message *┼* ¸¸.☆¨¯`

Isaiah 61:10 I delight greatly in the LORD; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

the Wisdom of Solomon 6:1-5

Suffering for Doing Good

Now, who will want to harm you if you are eager to do good? But even if you suffer for doing what is right, God will reward you for it. So don’t worry or be afraid of their threats. Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your Christian hope, always be ready to explain it. But do this in a gentle and respectful way. Keep your conscience clear. Then if people speak against you, they will be ashamed when they see what a good life you live because you belong to Christ. Remember, it is better to suffer for doing good, if that is what God wants, than to suffer for doing wrong!

An ungodly man diggeth up evil: and in his lips there is as a burning fire.

Luke 12:35-40

Jesus said to his disciples:

and be like servants who await their master’s return from a wedding,

Blessed are those servants
whom the master finds vigilant on his arrival.
