Hello all!
I would like to make an outdoor layout with structures and animals set out 150 years ago. Not exactly like the picture, but close enough.

It'll be awhile before I can post pics....Yeah I just made it. If you haven't built your dream layout yet post a picture of what you would like it to be if you had the money and the time etc.
I know Model Railroader magazine has a forum on their website. I registered there but never actually got involved at all.Does anyone have good links to model railroad websites?
I know of one on burnsland.com
They have a discussion board and they have a thread about Disney model railroading.
A few people are building a Nature's Wonderland railroad with a western/desert theme and another guy has built a Disneyland themed garden railroad in his backyard.
His structures are based on the rides and architecture of Disneyland like the castle and Big Thunder Railroad.
Yeah it can get a bit pricey, especially in the locomotives. I must say that the quality has really improved and the old junky stuff is not out there much, which is good since that was probably one of the big obstacles for new people getting the hobby.I've always wanted to try my hand at this, but the prices keep me away.
Same here -- as does the space requirements. Our house isn't big enough now, and if we moved I don't know that I'd want to pay more for a house just to have more space to do it.I've always wanted to try my hand at this, but the prices keep me away.
Depends what you want to do. I'd love to have big basement layout where I can run unit coal trains an such. As it is, all I have is a 7' by 8.5' space. Basically it will be a industrial switching layout. I just like to build something so I deal with the hand I've got.Same here -- as does the space requirements.
