Just recently I followed a website link from this forum and found a video teaching from a Christian man from a Judean background. The teaching was information concerning the authority of the Rabbi. It was like nothing I'd ever heard before, it made scriptures that I'd read so many times just suddenly come alive!
It explained what Jesus was doing from the ages of 12 - 30 years old and went to be baptized by John.
It explained why Jesus chose the particular disciples that he did. And explained why they were so willing to quickly leave everything and follow Jesus.
It explained why Jesus could "get around" the law. For instance when the rulers of the law brought the woman who'd been caught in the act of adultery. They put her before Jesus and said, "The law says (this), what do you say?"
Jesus replied, "Let he that is without sin cast the first stone". Where does it say that in the old testament? How come he can just come up with his own rules?
The rulers of the law didn't argue any further concerning what he said. They just walked away. I always wondered how could Jesus do that. Now I know.
And something that I've been curious about for quite some time. It explained what "my yoke" really meant when Jesus said, "My yoke is easy, my burden is light".
If you are interested to know more, just ask.
