LOL!!! Anyone can find an atheist or agnostic website listing supposed inconsistencies. Where did you find that one. Oh, wait I see one here. Of course I am sure you probably copied it from another.

Since we are having the war of the links then what you posted is refuted here.

There. Want more? lol

Now, how about you actually read and study the bible instead of relying in less than truthful websites. It amazes me that you would put more weight in a "website" than in the word of God.

THE BIBLE SAYS YES:
Isaiah 14:21: Prepare slaughter for his sons because of the guilt of their fathers, lest they rise and possess the earth, and fill the face of the world with cities."
Exodus 20:5: You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me

The Bible says no:
Deuteronomy 24:16: Fathers shall not be put to death because of their children, nor shall children be put to death because of their fathers. Each one shall be put to death for his own sin.
Ezekiel 18:20: The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not suffer for the iniquity of the father, nor the father suffer for the iniquity of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself.

Kutte,

Big misunderstanding come when you do not understand what is being said.

How is it that it is visited upon generations to come?

By example, if a son chooses to do wrong in GOD's site, even if he knows what he is doing is wrong, this is how he is visited with the justice from GOD. GOD is not going to be there with a whip if he sees the son not do the things his evil father does, just because his evil father does them, it will never make the son guilty. It is only when the son chooses to follow in his evil fathers footsteps that the guilt is carried on in further generations.

Natalie,

Regarding your comment:
"It is only when the son chooses to follow in his evil fathers footsteps that the guilt is carried on in further generations."

Response:
This, it seems to me, is your personal opinion. It is not spelled out this way in the Bible verses quoted.

However, I would give you credit that in today's scientific advanced world it could be argued that certain genes which may influence a person to become a criminal are being handed down to future generations.

Also, the environment in which one lives plays an important role as well.

If you read all of Ezekiel 18 it is pretty explainatory.

It is the difference between seeing our GOD as a loving caring Father and/or an Evil Over Lord, which HE is not, nor has HE ever been. It is all in how you look at the Creator of All, which will determin how you will recieve HIS messages in scripture. Everything HE has decreed is for our GOOD only, none of it will ever do us harm.

This in my humble opinion is all man made ideas, lovers of ownselves we have become and it is sickening sometimes to me personally. We make up excuses for the child caught with his/her hand in the cookie jar, which brings no justice about at all, it only leads them to a further life of crime. We encourage bad behavior instead of discouraging it, and to me personally it is sickening. My POV of course.
