Would you willingly be martyred for your beliefs?

If the government decided to kill people who are in favor of homosexual marriage or who were against abortion or who believed in Jesus Christ or whatever thing you believe with all your heart to be true; would you deny your beliefs to save your life or would you die for what you believe in?
I would die for my beliefs. Either my religious beliefs or my relationship beliefs (I am a lesbian and nothing will change that.)

I've actually thought about this a lot. I've read Richard Wurmbrand's testimony, Voice of the Martyrs, and Revolutionaries.

I would like to think that I would be aware enough to see it coming and go into hiding. I would then either join a resistance or start one. I would do my best to evade capture and if I were caught would definitely attempt escape. If it came down to deny my beliefs or die I would like to think that I would not deny my beliefs.

If it were for some other cause I'd probably lie. It would depend on the cause.

That´s an easy thing to say. (emphasis on "say")
Just as simple to follow through with. Not easy, no, but it's not something I am afraid of. My life belongs to me no longer. I have given it to his service; what is past loyalty if it fails in the present at the point of death? If escape is not possible, death is always preferable for me to violence in self defense.

I have a question:

Say you have several other Christians in your house hiding. Someone comes to your door, demanding that you renounce Christ and show him any others in your house.

Now, I know definitely it would be wrong to deny Christ.

However, would it be wrong to pull out a gun in defense of your fellow Christians?

Also, how would you protect your other Christians and not give them away?

Be smart, if they are coming after Christians, hide in a Jewish house. We'll have no problem denying Jesus. ;)

Plenty of Christians hid Jews during the Holocaust, and lied to the guards and did everything in their power to protect others. These men and women are heroes and deserve our highest praise.

I would ask him why I should renounce Christ, to begin with.

Yes, I believe that it is wrong to use violence. How can we love our enemies if we attack them out of fear for our well being? Our resistance is not a destructive one. I trust God, not implements of death. To live is Christ and to die is gain, as a good man once said. I think my fellow Christians would agree.

Put your self in Southern Sudan where the Muslims have been attacking your Christian villages/towns taking your wives and daughters as slaves and many are then used as sex slaves. The believers here are using weapons to defend their families against these attacks, many are born again and even seeing revival amongst them along side their taking up arms.
Many Muslims have now come to faith in the Living God due to the example of the Christians who when they take prisoners do not do the same in return to their enemies. The Muslims are perplexed by this and many are seeing the power of Jesus to forgive.

But to allow the rape and killing of attacking foe against your own with out defending them is open to every mans conscience/heart before God and who am i to say it is wrong!

We in the cozy safe west, can say all sorts of things on a thread like this, but if the shoe were on the other foot ?

All I know is that we are not to return to an evil man the things he inflicts upon us. We shouldn't let people walk all over us, and neither should we retaliate. There is a third way.

With your logic, nothing should have been done to stop Hitler as he marched across Europe. (not trying to Godwin anything, seriously, it's just the best example I can think of at this moment)

If it isn't, if you think we should have fought Hitler, how are the two situations different?
