Yes, it is wrong. Only Jesus can give us reliable information properly relevant to our lives.

My experience with people who have used psychics or any form of occult activities is that they subsequently experience real 'blockages' in their ability to relate to Jesus.

It is only wrong if you pay them, believe what they say about your life and future, or what they say about anyone else's life or future. If you stay away from those actions/topics, there is nothing wrong with talking to a psychic.

There is only right and wrong, there are no degrees of wrong. Consulting a psychic about the life and future of yourself or others or paying them is just as wrong as doing a drive by shooting of school kids waiting for the bus.

I am being very honest. My faith right now is very weak. Sometimes my prayers get answered but looking over my life my deepest desires have never occurred.

Has anyone ever consulted a psychic and if so how wrong is it to do so?

Yes, it is basic unbelief... unless it is a Christian who has gifts from the Spirit, but even then you need to believe Scripture and seek to listen to the Holy Spirit, who 'teaches all things'.

Not all prayers will be answered just like a parent does not give a child just anything they want. True faith comes from the 'spirit of faith', so you can get whatever you really need that way. Faith is something to build up against all doubt and testing.

Above all, though, you need to understand you have everything you really need right in your heart. This is why it can be important for people to go without materially. One can live on their own island and have hell in their heart, or live in a prison cell and have Heaven. All we really need is in our heart, in our soul, and until you understand that you may have problems getting anything else -- because when you go chasing Heaven anywhere else, you are denying Heaven within for free.

Yes, I have. It was a waste of time and money and I think I picked up an "enemy" or two. Accepting any sort of vision or truth from anyone other than God can really lead to some major issues.

I know how gut wrenchingly hard life can be. I feel you. I'm trying to avoid sounding Christian-y™ - so I'll say this instead; The God you're looking for is in the Bible.

Getting prayers answered can be such a hard place to exist in. I'm at the point I don't even know what the desires of my own heart are. The other day I realized that this is exactly where I'm supposed to be. Once I realized that everything I once clung to stopped working and that being this empty was actually a huge blessing, I started to relax.

Seems you're at the disappointment stage.

Will you accept my advice if I just encourage you to hang in there with those feelings and let God work them out? hard as that is? Usually God's busy working on our behalf while we're treading through sorrow. So can you just hang in there and know that He is God? He really does want to answer you and He wants you to be happy. This I know because He gives me glimpses into my own heart and I can hear Him whispering "Shh, just be patient and listen".

There's no way around pain and disappointment.

The other day I went and had some people pray for me. I didn't want to leave the place. On my way out of the parking lot I sensed so powerfully "Jesus wept". Then I realized that that's exactly how He feels about my sadness over having to leave the place where I was prayed for. And that was new to me. This knowing in my heart how very present He is in my life.

I pray that God will comfort you and speak to you through other people, through His word, and through your own thoughts and feelings.

You are so cared for by God.

Dear Jane,

Here is how God feels about psychics and other forms of divination:

Deut 18:9-13
9 When thou art come into the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.
10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,
11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord: and because of these abominations the Lord thy God doth drive them out from before thee.
13 Thou shalt be perfect with the Lord thy God.
KJV

I am praying for you that you will seek God, continually--not with a motivation to get specific prayers answered, although He does answer prayers--but to know Him in such a deep way that you trust Him with everything in your life.

Blessings to you.

I am being very honest. My faith right now is very weak. Sometimes my prayers get answered but looking over my life my deepest desires have never occurred.

Do not turn to card readers and the like , for to do so is to turn away from The Lord .

Often God doesn't grant our requests for our own good .

Commonly we desire things we think would be good for us at this time , but God knows better than do we .

Also , The Lord's silence towards us may indeed be an extension of His Exceedingly Merciful Means of sending us a signal to seek His Kingdom & Righteousness first + foremost !

Furthermore , if God immediately jumped at our every request , would we not tend to turn out to be spoiled rotten brats ?!

Keep seeking & trusting in The Lord , He will give you the best answer at the right time .

May The Lord Be Magnified !

You do not need psychics for advice, since God has planned all of your days, knew the hour of your birth and of your death. Basically all you need to do is believe in God, pray to his son Jesus, and read your bible.

All the mysteries of the future are already planned, and you can not change them. Give in peacefully, and love God's wisdom.

All of your children's lives, deaths, and that of their children is planned. If you lose a child, grieve not, for the child is with God, and it is as it should be, as it was planned, and will be for the best.

Jesus loves you, this I know for the bible tells me so.

Remember the Greek that says:

Να μην ουρούν πάνω στη φωτιά, γι 'αυτό, σαν θεός, φώτα στο σκοτάδι.

Let not the lights of night be extinguished by ignorance, but come to me, the true light.

or this:

Αυτοί που βλέπουν ό, τι δεν υπάρχουν, όπως εκείνοι που μιλούν ψέματα. Μετανοήσουν και να πάει προς τα εμπρός, αμαρτία δεν περιέχει περισσότερα.

The soothsayer sayeth not sooth, but lies. Go in peace as you seek the true god.

A psychic usually claims to rely on a spirit guide to give them answers. They either will call on the dead, or on a familiar spirit, for information.

A prophet and a believer are given information from the God of the universe.

There's a difference -- both in the purity of the information, and the motive behind it.

I have not consulted any psychics or anything. I've read what's been in my fortune cookies, and I took a brief look at a horoscope once or twice - and it's so overly generalized, I fail to see how anyone would find it useful. It's literally people guessing. Did you know that astronomy has evolved to the point that we now know that the constellations are not where we thought they were - and hence, the zodiac is at least a month off? This is a total rip-off, and you have people who are "into it" who expose themselves to occult New Age teaching. At best, it's useless. At worst, it's very dangerous. All in all, it's not worth it.
