non-Christianese Christian music

Hi all!

I am looking for some good Christian artists... ones that aren't too Christianesey like a lot of Protestant artists you hear, but perhaps more subtle, or just have a Christian undertone and so on. Not "praise and worship" music, essentially. But not chant, either.

I can suggest a few:
Michael Card, a Catholic artist
Over the Rhine, a husband and wife collaboration, they do most of their recording out of their own home

Check out St. Romanos Records It is the website for St. Romanos Records. It is a small record label for contemporary Christian music by Orthodox artists, including Fr. Peter Jon Gillquist (his father is Fr. Peter Gillquist) and other artists.

What kind of music do you listen to? Are you into heavy metal? Tourniquet and Theocracy are pretty good bands that are Christian without being too cheesy.

But they are teh awesome.

I have all their albums.

But yes, they aren't Christian even though they do have some pretty heavy Christian references at times. Namely their song "Gethsemane" on their Oceanborn album.
