First was emergancy section after 15hrs of natural labour, just fas and air and nothing happening - it was awful and took me nearly 3 months to recover from - plus I still get pain in my scar now 2 1/2 years later if I do too much

second was just gas and air again - far too long a labour again lol stated at 11.30pm and had her at 4.50pm the next day. But u was only pushing for 50 min instead of over and hour and half with number one. I was extremely gutted to end up needing a spinal in order to gave my tear sorted out. It was alot easier to get over though. I was up doing things straight away and felt better than I had done since I'd got pregnant with my first lol

C-section after natural birth attempt. Boo :( Every time I talk or even think of DS's birth I get very sad and mad. Very down. Blah.

That's how I feel. I also feel that if I hadn't of gone two weeks overdue I would of been able to have a natural birth. Having my second naturally made me feel better though :)

C-section after natural attempt (She wasn't able to descend due to the small size of my pelvis). I'll be honest. I think people put too much of an emphasis on the birthing process. Women all over the world die in childbirth and there is nothing glorious about it. If I would have lived in another time or country, I would have died in childbirth. I'm very happy that I got to come home healthy with a healthy baby. I'm also glad that I'm going in to have another c-section in two 1/2 weeks. If it wasn't for modern medicine, I'd never know my beautiful little girl and I'd never get to have this new little girl.

This this this..a thousand times THIS! My daughter is here, I am here..that's all that matters to me. 17 hours of labor and a cesarian isn't what I wanted..but I did want my daughter here, safe and healthy..and she is.

I would have loved a 15-17 hour labor. I had to labor 44 hours before the doctor said c-section, and this was regular contractions 2 min apart for 3/4 of the time. that baby is now 5 years old.

2nd c-section, uterus inverted, she will be 3 years old on the 16th.

3rd c-section, baby girl not breathing over 9 lbs at birth, now a happy and healthy 1 year old.

even with all that, I will have another c-section with my next baby.

1 emerg c cection after vaginal attempt(went in at 9am and was in labor until 4am when was rushed to emerg)...got stuck and had a fecal movement, ended up being good that he was c cection as the cord very short and was wrapped around neck twice...he could have died if natural birth, and one planned c-cection...planned near the end of preg as I was at high risk...cannot deliver a baby over 9 lbs and both were over 9lbs...(9lbs 7oz -5 days late and 9lbs 9oz-3 weeks early).

Birth, in my opinion and experience, is 90-95% mental. The rest is all about psitioning- of both mom and baby.

Physioligically- fear causes the brain to produce adrenaline--and during first stage adrenaline blocks the endorphins from working effectively.

If you can 'worse case scenario' it in your mind--couple with that a positive outcome. Visualize the pain--but also visualise you giving birth despite the pain--visualize everything- the labor, the pushing, the birth, the birth of the placenta, nursing baby in your arms, coming home with baby. Play it over in your mind. Read about the emotional signposts in labor-- imagine feeling those feelings--allow yourself to be scared, or to be ready to quit--and then visualise how you want to deal with that.

On a practical note-- laying on your back in bed is the absolute most painful way to labor. Stay active and upright and you will have less pain.

Can I ask you if you have cramps when you menstruate? Or if you can deal with stomach pains from gas? The pain of labor is much more like those things than it is a needle stick.

Refuse an IV, refuse an episiotomy (except for emergency), breath through crowning to avoid stitches.

I had to have an IV with first as we were planning on vaginal birth so up until they figured out I would have to have an emerg c they had me on IV due to the fact I was tested positive for strep (something many women do carry)...one cannot refuse an IV all the time :)

Well, I don't know now that you mention it, but you do lose weight faster if you breastfeed. :)

Not necessarily...I breast fed for 10 months, stopped for 5 months (break inbetween babies-15 mnths apart) and breast fed for another 13 months...I ended up gaining...pre preg weight was 140...went up to over 200lbs by the end of the second breast feeding...I was huge for years actually until kids were past the breast feeding stage!! ugghh...:(

C-section after natural attempt (She wasn't able to descend due to the small size of my pelvis). I had this same thing. I pushed for four long hours and ended in c section. Hubby and I believed and prayed that my second would be a VBAC (vaginal birth after c section). And we got it. My 1st son was born 7 lbs 7 oz and the Doctor said I could only have a five lbs baby or less the next time. With 2nd son I again pushed for four hours (only by the grace of God did the Docs let me push that long). Out came a 8 lbs 12oz baby with his hand by his neck, face up, and his chest was an inch bigger than his head. Yes I tore but it was worth it. The docs gave me a 95% chance of having this one vaginally.

Same... I was induced at 198 lbs. I left hospital about 180ish lbs. 2 weeks post partum I was 170ish. I stayed 170 lbs until 6.5 months post partum. I quit pumping, and then bam, ten lbs came off. Breastfeeding does NOT make you lose weight in all cases. And I will never again tell someone this, as I got very depressed because I wasn't losing anything.. how could I when I just sat pumping alllllll day long?

My Son was an Emergency C-Section. I had no amniotic fluid left. I actually didn't mind having the c-section either, By the time I was 6 months pregnant I knew I wouldn't be having him V-bac. My son was always much bigger than he was supposed to be, so I had a few months to mentally prepare to have him c-section.

My first was c-section after all other attempts failed, due to some killer fibroids I had. Every time I would push, they would push BACK!!! There is a really long story about what a jerk the doctor was re: getting me on the table, but I'll save that for another day.

Because of that, I went to a different doctor for my second. This doctor said that, if the fibroids were still there, we'd just go straight to scheduled C...which we did.

Completely agree with you. I was pretty confident with my first birth and got to the pushing stage with gas but my daughter got stuck and I had a c-section. With my second child I had a VBAC, but it was awful. I let fear rule me, I was so scared the c-scar would rupture, the midwife gave me pethidine ( which made me sleepy) and then stood over me demanding I give birth before her shift finished.
When I had my second VBAC I decided to just give the fear to God. I went in feeling confident and prayed through each contraction. It was my quickest and easiest birth, no drugs, no fear, it sound's crazy but I enjoyed it! I think the sad thing is,is that the medical profession seem's reluctant to encourage VBAC's. Which doesn't help those wishing to attempt one.

I had a c-section with my daughter after an attempt at a natural, vaginal delivery but I wouldn't call it an "emergency". She was face-up so the doctor didn't think I would be able to push her out. Now I think he probably just didn't want to be at the hospital all night. I only got to 4-5 cm dialated and I have read and heard that often babies turn to the proper position just before delivery.
I'm not sure if I am going to choose a scheduled c-section or try for a VBAC with this pregnancy.

C-section after vaginal attempt with meds. Dilated to 10, pushed for an hour and a half and DD had turned herself sunny side up, when the doctor asked about considering a c-section, I willingly said "yes!" Definitely not an emergency, but I was exhausted after 14 hours of labor. But, I did do about 8 hours naturally! :)

c-section after vaginal with meds.
I got to 8 cm, with the help of the drip, but her heart rate got too fast, and we couldn't slow it down.
I had been in labour for 28 hours at that point, so they opted for an emergancy section.

Now I don't remember this, as I was too doped up, but apperently when the dr. told me I had to have a c-section, my only response was: "bummer." *rolls eyes*
Niffer, always the eloquent one!!! o_O LOL!
