That blasphemy just cost you 100,000,000,000 prostrations per day for the remainder of your life. You are restricted to the narthex only. Any use of a paintbrush is forbidden. No sports. No beer. No sunshine. Nothing except Italian bread and water. You are excommunicated, anathematized, expelled, driven out, deposed, and anything else that goes along with it. You will wear nothing but rags the rest of your days, and you will wear a sign around your neck saying, "I=EPIC FAIL." You will speak only when spoken to, and you will write on the chalkboard 20,000,000 times, "Italian food or death." If you do not believe what you have just written 20,000,000 times by the time you finish, well... bad news for you.

This list is incomplete and any other penances deemed necessary will be added without notice. Any attempt to dispute or deviate from what has been stated will result in even more severe penances, up to and including being forced to endure five years of mega-church attendance, all day, every day, no breaks, no rest, evar.

What planet are you on? ;) ^_^

The biggest loss during the schism of 1054 was access to all the wonderful food of France and Italy!

I don't know how they do Italian in PGH, but here in Jersey and NYC, Italian food is tastey stuff!

(Still can't beat my Grandma's cooking though! ^_^ )

I am sure I can find atleast a few bishops who dislike pasta.

You are tempting me to tell everyone about the conversation His Grace, Bishop MELCHISEDEK, Nikoali and myself had on Sunday about whether or not God can force you to do something against your own will.

MMMMMmmm Cannolis
Cannoli are Sicilian pastry desserts. The singular is cannolo (or in the Sicilian language cannolu), meaning "little tube", with the etymology stemming from the Latin "canna", or reed. Cannoli originated in Sicily and are an essential part of Sicilian cuisine. They are also popular in Italian American cuisine and in America are known as a general Italian pastry, while they are specifically Sicilian in origin (in Italy, they're commonly known as "cannoli siciliani", Sicilian cannoli).

Cannoli consist of tube-shaped shells of fried pastry dough, filled with a sweet, creamy filling usually containing ricotta cheese and chopped succade. They range in size from "cannulicchi", no bigger than a finger, to the fist-sized proportions typically found in Piana degli Albanesi, south of Palermo, Sicily.

No offense Michael, but Italian cooking goes waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay beyond Pasta. Pasta is just a part of it. There are many delicious dishes in Italian cuisine that do not include any pasta at all. Not all of Italian cuisine is pasta and red sauce. That is only one dimension of it. If you go to Northern Italy and such, you will see a very different cuisine than the one stereotyped here in the US.

I am not trying to force anything on you, I am simply suggesting that Italian cuisine may be broader than you think it is.

Italian cuisine has developed through centuries of social and political changes, with roots as far back as the 4th century BCE. Italian cuisine in itself takes heavy influences from Etruscan, ancient Greek, ancient Roman, Byzantine, Germanic, Gaelic, Norman, Jewish and Arab cuisines. Significant changes occurred with the discovery of the New World with the introduction of items such as potatoes, tomatoes, bell peppers and maize, now central to the cuisine but not introduced in quantity until the 18th century. Italian cuisine is noted for its regional diversity, abundance of difference in taste, and is known to be one of the most popular in the world, with influences abroad.

Ingredients and dishes vary by region. Many dishes that were once regional, however, have proliferated with variations throughout the country. Cheese and wine are a major part of the cuisine, with many variations and Denominazione Di Origine Controllata (DOC) (regulated appellation) laws. Coffee, specifically espresso, has become important in Italian cuisine.

This is true. Pasta is usually a side dish, actually; it's an American thing to eat it as a main course.

Whenever our bishop comes, we always have some kind of theme for each of our meals. We've had middle eastern, Italian, Indian (which works really good during fasting periods), and Mexican. The bishop really loves this, as he says he gets served peroghis almost all the time (I'm sure he has nothing against them, but he just doesn't want them all the time). He is coming next month, and I don't think we've decided on themes for the meals yet, but I wouldn't mind doing Italian again--there are plenty of different dishes we could make. I am hoping that we will have gelato again for dessert. I love gelato. I wouldn't mind homemade biscotti (sp?) again either.

Tell that to The Olive Garden or any of these other so called Italian cuisine places here in the US. They basically laugh at you when you order Chicken Marsala, WITHOUT pasta.

That's because the Olive Garden is pseudo-Italian at best.

Olive Garden is not an Italian restaurant. I'm sorry, but to get good Italian cuisine, do not go to a chain restaurant. You need to go to a private Mom & Pop place that makes their own sauces, their own recipes.

American Chain restaurants corrupt fine European cuisine into a degenerate form of its original recipe. They play on the stereotypes Americans love and give false impressions of what the real deal is like.

Pick up a cookbook with Northern Italian cooking (or just about any region except Sicily) and you will see that Italian cooking reaches far beyond pasta and red sauce.
