Any moms here that have gone back to the infant stage after being out of the toddler stage with your older kids?

My boys are 8 and 5, so I was still in baby/toddler mode when the youngest mancub came along. Now, with the next coming along in a matter of weeks, I've got mixed feelings about the baby stage all over again. I got used to sleeping through the night. lol

Hiya

sorry but I can't be of any help as my oldest was 2 and 2months when I had my second. But I can empathise.
The whole sleeping through the night thing was one of the things that made me decide to have mine closer together. We were still getting up in the night with our ds -usually just once a night as he'd woken up and just needed putting back into bed - so I didn't think it'd be too bad. I have to say that second time around I've struggled with getting up in the night more. I think I'm just more tired cos of having to look after two children during the day. It's 6am now and I'm nursing dd -if I wasn't doing this forum then I'd be 3/4 asleep feeding her!

My brother had 2 kids then a 3rd when the youngest was 5. There were going to have four but having to start again put them off lol. The older two (both boys) think their little sister is great - most of the time!

What do your other two think of having a new brother or sister?

I was definitely moe tired when my second son came along. But, I was already "used" to getting up in the middle of the night. My oldest wasn't a very good sleeper, so he was still waking up frequently when YDS came along. In fact, it's just been in the last year and a half that they've both started sleeping through the night and not waking up and getting in bed with me.

They are both very excited about their baby sister's pending arrival. :) They talk to my belly, kiss it, and tell me all the things they are going to teach her when she's born. We've talked a lot about what it's like to have a newborn in the house, so they know she won't do much when she's first born - lol - but they're excited to get to hold her and help with things like bathing her. :)

We put DS in the grass for the first time ever. He had the most funny expression on his face, like "what IS this!?" Then he decided it was fun to pull it out of the ground and throw it. :D

He took to it better than my Alice did, we put her in the grass this week and she screamed until I picked her back up. I cannot put her down in the yard now unless there is a blanket under her! The kid just started cruising this week and won't get her hands or feet on the grass.

Tessas, we do EC from the time the kids can hold themselves up well, as I have wrist issues. My youngest is over 15lbs, so holding that much weight up on a potty to try and EC is too hard for me right now with everythng else (teething and regression) going on.

There are "Potty pauses" and regression with the birth of a child, moving or life changes and/or health related issues (teething, allergies etc)

Somehow we got into gluten this past week and Jonathan has NOT gone on the potty more than once a day, and some days not at all. I am very frustrated as he was almost an EC graduate. He was telling us when, taking himself and everything. I am unsure where he got into it, if it was via the buggy in the hall or at my inlaws or when he went shopping. Wherever it was, it's done a LOT of damage, as he's not even processing food properly anymore and has been begging to nurse more than 1x daily. He's asking at every mealtime and inbetween, which is VERY frustrating for me. (I'm NAK atm with him) I had just gotten up the courage to do some short outings with him when he regressed. :sigh :(

Tessas, are you a member of Elimination Communication on Yahoo Groups? They are very supportive.

I am so uncertain how we'll go about EC with the youngest. He isn't holding himself up yet, and just is content to do anything we do, or watch, rather than participate just yet. We've sat him on the potty before, but he was not at all thrilled and was very upset. I'll have to just play it by ear and do my best, because he's a bigger guy and I'll need him out of the diapers faster than I needed Jonathan out of them. I think maybe this time next year to expect him to be progressing or EC grad.

I never did the whole holding over a potty either. DS was always too heavy. He was born a toddler! LOL. He could sit up very early, so that helped, and he never had a bit issue with his Baby Bjorn Little Potty (thank goodness!). To be honest, *I'VE* not found the time/motivation to be putting him on the potty frequently enough, so recently we haven't been having a lot of catches, but when I was super dedicated, he was dry for hours at a time. I don't think I'm apart of that Yahoo group. I don't prefer the way Yahoo is set up. But I am on two other forums with large groups of people and subforums specifically for those of us that EC, so I definitely have support and advice there if I need it!

I know how you feel Pegasus and I really feel for you. Our 2nd is most likely our last and she's growing up way too fast. I so don't want the 1 year mark to come round quickly - it's like they're not a baby anymore.

Are you planning a party?

I cried when DS was 6 months. I'm going to bawl when he's a year!

I babysat for a friend's baby girl today. She kept warning me saying that her normal sitter (her sister) always says she's AWFUL with anyone but her mom, but she was a perfect angel for me. Smiley, cuddly, and playful. Must have a magic touch. Now I've got baby fever, but for a giiiirl. :p

But, I'm glad I got my boy. I have always wanted my first born to be a boy. :)

It is a bit like that here. Some of the better weather we have is while the kids are still in school and not during the 6 weeks they have off between end of July and beginning of sept. That's a real shame for the kids.

We are having Esther dedicated two weeks on Sunday. As our house isn't that big we've decided to have the meal afterwards in a room in the church were there is a cooker and stuff. If we could gaurenteee the weather we'd of had it at home in the garden

DS has stood by himself! For 2-3 seconds at a time, not holding onto anything. I was SHOCKED the first time he did it. Then, when he sat down on his but, I started yelling frantically for DH!!! DS wanted to pull up again using my fingers, so I let him, and he did it again for his daddy to see! He's done it again twice today. I was not expecting him to do that for quite some time. Just when I start thinking something is a looong way off, DS proves me wrong! My little boy is growing up :( :( Where'd my baby go! He's looking more and more like a toddler every day.

Ah bless - well done :)

I took my dd for her 4 month check today (just 2 months late!). She was weighed and is 14lb 1oz. Quite a bit less than I thought she'd be. The general rule is that they double their birth weight by 6 months so I was expecting somewhere in the reigon of 15 1/2 lbs. Still they are not worried about her and neither am I.

She rolled over too the other day - she looked very pleased with herself lol
