More and more, I just don't feel right about televised "revivals."

To slightly modify an old quote, "the revelation will not be televised."

Something about the idea just doesn't sit as authentic with me...
and no, Neph, I am not speaking about this particular one you are
watching.

May I ask why?

Television is simply a medium in which you can address many people. Why should it be disqualified as a tool to spread the message of the Kingdom of God?

Oh, ok, and even though you might not feel right about televised revivals I would say this is probably not the type of revival I think your thinking of. The televised show is only a half hour show every Saturday night and it's a condensed version of what they do every Tuesday night. And it's not a healing revival, although several people have claimed to have had somekind of a physical healing.

If anything you need to watch the second video I posted, that's tells alot of the history of it.

I cant really judge something from a few clips; but that being said, it's not really my place to judge anyways. If poeple are getting saved, (and it appears that they are), then whatever you want to call it, it sounds good to me.

Peace..

Hmmmm....

Not quite sure what you are saying. Are you saying that the power of God cannot be present when a video camera is turned on? Kinda like the legend of vampires not being able to be photographed? God can't do anything in front of a camera?

Peace...

Is this a real revival happening in Birmingham AL?

This is a huge website so unless you really view it please don't just give a knee jerk judgement.

I'm watching the show on INSP right now.

Never heard of it until this thread. I will check it out and then post. By the way, The TB abbreviation confused me for a minute. Then I realized it means Todd Bently. Wonder what TB is up to by now...

I don't want get into a debate about this...I just can't place my finger
on it, exactly. I guess for the same reason Lord Jesus triumphantly entered Jerusalem
not on winged horses surrounded by legions of angels trumpeting His arrival,
but on the foal of a donkey surrounded by mere commoners waving only palm fronds...
and for the same reason He was not born in a palace, but in a manger...

He is humble, and not of this world. I have seen Him do miracles firsthand,
and He does things in ways we more often than not don't fully perceive.
What we call great, HE calls foolish; what the world despises, HE delights in using for His purposes.

I guess, guys, I'm just particular like that. It's not that He "cannot" use
TV or whatever else He wants to...it just seems to me that, being the LORD Who does not change,
these types of dog-and-pony shows are not His way.

Of course I could be wrong. But I do not see Him as doing things this way.

I guess it's just how I feel about it. Take it only as that, please.

EDIT: Oh, and I am not saying ANYTHING about healings, salvations, or whatever else may take place at these events.
I am of the belief that these works are always of the LORD, and can happen anywhere.

do you believe your siggy? If so, you are limiting what God can do by saying it can't be done on tv. AND, they didn't have tv back in His day. Just sayin'...

It is a fired up youth group. Good for them. It really has a strong American feel to it.

Looks fairly similar to The Ramp, which Karen Wheaton started up in Hamilton, about an hour or so north of B'ham. May have been some cross-pollination there, The Ramp has been fairly successful for being in such a small town (Hamilton only has about 5000 in population and it's about an hour from anywhere bigger.)

Ok, I wont argue, just thought I'd tell you know that it probably isn't what you're thinking. :)

I did think about the Ramp when I saw this.
