Strange that nobody else bothered to jot down a note of such an occurrence.
Not strange when you consider the fact you are deliberately ignoring what everybody in the world bothered to jot down recording the events.

I find it funny the "records" all mention different times and lengths of time.
I find it funny you think Time is absolute.

"Time is not something which subsists of itself, or which inheres in things as an objective determination..." -- Immanuel Kant, natural philosopher, 1781

"If we ... consequently take objects as they are in themselves, then time is nothing." -- Immanuel Kant, natural philosopher, 1781

So all of these "records" give conflicting information, with no overlap. So what technology did the mermen use to stop the rotation of the earth?

So what technology did the mermen use to stop the rotation of the earth?
The comet Venus stopped the rotation of the Earth when it was ejected as an electrical instability from Jupiter on an elliptical orbit. Later it was Mars.

"For if the Olympian who handles the lightning [Jupiter] should be minded
to hurl us [planets] out of our places, he is far too strong for any."
-- Homer, poet, Iliad, I:580-581

"But, when the planets,
In evil mixture, to disorder wander,
What plagues, and what portents? what mutiny?
What raging of the sea? Shaking of the earth?
Commotion in the winds? frights, changes, horrors,
Divert and crack, rend and deracinate
The unity and married calm of states
Quite from their fixture?"
-- William Shakespeare, playwright, Troilus and Cressida, 1602

The mermen were fleeing their own star when it went from red giant to white dwarf (Sirius B).

Did the mermen transfer this information to Shakespeare with an electrical transference device? So Venus was originally a comet? That is interesting.

I have heard about the Dogon as well as the Sumerian Gods. Have you read the Necronomicon by Abdul Alhazred? Do you think the Nommos will return in 2012 when Cthulhu awakens from his slumber?

I like how he uses the exact same quote from the 1700s evangelist about a Chinese emperor as "evidence" for both the day in Daniel (that was one day and not 10) AND the Biblical Flood (which was 40 days of rain, up to a year more of flooding depending on how you INTERPRET it, and centuries if not millennia away from Daniel's time.

That is all.

I know for a scientific fact Venus was a comet.

"As when the son [Jupiter] of devious-devising Kronos [Saturn] casts down a star [Venus], portent to sailors or to widespread armies of peoples gliterring, and thickly the sparks of fire break from it, in such likeness Pallas Athene swept flashing earthward and plunged between the two hosts; and amazement seized the beholders, Trojans, breakers of horses, and strong-greaved Achaians." -- Homeros, poet, Iliad, Book IV: 75-80

"As Zeus's [Jupiter's] daughter [Venus] she'll be immortal and live in heaven with her brothers, Pollux and Castor, the heavenly twins, an extra star for ships to steer their courses by." -- Euripides, playwright, Orestes, 408 B.C.

"Democritus however, insists upon the truth of his view and affirms that certain stars [Venus] have been seen when comets dissolve." -- Aristotle, philosopher, Meteorology, 350 B.C.

"Some of the Italians called Pythagoreans say that the comet is one of the planets [Venus]." -- Aristotle, philosopher, Meteorology, 350 B.C.

"In an ancient Hindu tablet of planets, attributed to the year -3012 Venus among the visible planets is absent [Delambre, J.B.J., Histoire de l'astronomie ancienne I, Page 407, 1817: 'Venus alone is not found there.']." -- Immanuel Velikovsky, polymath, 1950

Interesting questions...
So by scientific fact you mean quoting homer, aristotle, and some crank (a psychoanalyst...relevant field?) in the 40s who derived his ideas from mythology and not astronomy?

If Homer, Aristotle, and a crank said 2+2=4 would you conclude 2+2=5?

Why do you think the peer-reviewed science in Science magazine, Geophysical Research Letters, and the Journal of Geophysical Research was written by some crank and what difference would it make?

With the lone exception of the literature review poster, all of them are pre-1988 so obviously these ideas haven't stood the test of scientific scrutiny otherwise the whole Venus comet thing would have become common knowledge astronomy years ago. It's a scientifically dead idea. It doesn't even really make a lot of sense anyway.

all of them
You don't know the definition of all?

are pre-1988 so obviously these ideas haven't stood the test of scientific scrutiny
I forgot that 1988 is the meridian line of Truth. Silly me.

Well I guess since Newton wrote the Principia in 1687 and Darwin wrote Origin of Species in 1859, obviously gravitation and evolution haven't stood the test of scientific scrutiny.
