Step back; look at the big picture. When everything is complete, these small incidents will reveal God's perfection.

Of course there is life after I die... I just won't participate in it. You see, when I am dead, that means the absence of life, FOR ME. But other people continue to live.

You see, I don't have to guess. I have studied biology and chemistry. I have studied Psychology and I know that the brain is responsible for everything we consider "us". When it lacks oxygen for more than few minutes, when blood flow is stopped to the brain... it stops functioning. That is death. No brain, no self.

Once you except this universal truth, life has much more meaning, and so does death. You will be much less likely to die for what you believe and much more willing to live for what you know.

The Spirit of The Word points to the Originator of LOVE within who is GOD in Christ. (imho regardless of which form of Jesus or not is painted on the lips.)

No show on the outside means nothing on the inside.

The Word speaks to matters UNSEEN. It is SPIRITUAL.

1) Hunger
2) Lust
3) Justice
4) Health

What goes on in anyones head is only between them, God and the devil, scripturally speaking. No one else can say they SEE such things UNTIL they spill out of the lips or onto a cyber page, and even that is only a little portion of what is going on that can't be seen.

That leaves you open for quite a few things...

It is reasonable to say that there are things that defy external or physical capture, hence theology. A fairly simple observation. There is no requirement for either of us to see these through the others restrictive lenses. You would not be comfortable with mine and I vice versa. I'm cool with that. See how you see. Not my yob.

All those things you mentioned (oxygen, blood, brain) pertain to the physical. IMO the spirit is like a soul; kind of like if you made a robot out of metal and circuits. Does the robot have a soul? Conscientiousness of the brain is not the spirit. The spirit exists beyond the ceasing of the function of the brain.

I would also disagree that living only for what you know gives this life more meaning. Knowing is of the world, believing is of the spirit. There is greater meaning in knowing that eternity awaits. My friend, I truly feel sad for you that you have no hope for this eternal heaven that Jesus promised. But that's about all I can do is tell you of Jesus' promise. The rest is up to God.

Scripture is wrong. It's no big deal. Ancient writings are often wrong. After all they don't have the same technology, science or multi-cultural histories to drawn from.

Spirit is like a soul? Soul comes from soma meaning BODY. Spirit comes from various sources all meaning BREATH... or wind or life.

Most, if not all, psychologists would consider the spirit the sense of self, or consciousness of a person. It exists in the mind.

Of course, you can say soul and spirit are the same thing... or different, it doesn't matter. You are free to believe whatever you want.

And you simply follow your own mind constructs AS GOD. So what else is new? I don't even blame you for that, seeing that scripture teaches that where THE WORD is sown SATAN does enter the heart/mind wherein it is sown. If any person doesn't know this, they remain an unknowing pawn of same who entered them and THAT entity causes IDOLATRY in the entered.

IN my opinion, Satan is a tool of God, a teaching tool.

If God wanted robots, he would have made robots.

If God just immediately answered all your prayers and you never have to work or learn, how could you grow into an angel??

In the Bible it says that God knew the end from the begining.

The God vs. Satan story seems very analogous to the Judas against Jesus story. "One of you will betray me"

I think it is that it is the nature of a creature to want to try to overtake its creator. This might even come about by a faulty kind of love, where a creature loves its creator so much, he/she wants to BE the creator. This can never be so.

So I think God is teaching us in a very grand way how that can never be and that to think or try something like that is disasterous.

I also have soemtimes thought that good and evil energies might have been necessary in the creation of eternity for us - maybe a kind of scaffolding and maybe that is what dark matter is.

It even makes sense in a quantum physical kind of way.

Jesus by taking on a world of suffering created a kind of pathway up through the universe into the heavenly realm. "NO one come to the Father but through me"

Finally, I think most of the times in the Bible where it says God gave someone over to sin is when that person was already hard-hearted and perhaps against God.

Of course, I could be wrong about anything.
