Found something this morning....
Yeshua drew my attention to His words, at the last supper.
He was speaking to His disciples and He said,

"Ye are they which have continued with Me in My temptations.
And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me:
That ye shall eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel." Luke 22: 28~30

I looked up the original of the word 'temptations' and found it means

a putting to proof (by experiment [of good], experience [of evil], solicitation, discipline or provocation); by implication, adversity; - temptation, try.

This amazed me again about His humility. That He should be put to proof. Wow.
As I sat there thinking about that this morning, I heard Him say "You will be too." Our faith will be tested, but that so it may be Proven. And that is of benefit to us.
I also noticed in this that we can be proven by good and by evil.

I think there is a proverb that says
" a man is tested by the praise accorded to him." Does people's praise of us inspire arrogance or pride? Or does it inspire humility and gratitude, cause we know whatever good is found in us is only by His kind grace working in and through us.

Mostly I wanted to share this because of that fact, Yeshua's profound humility in allowing Himself to become a man who could be tested. How amazing. He is SO beautiful, it defies description.

He was tempted in all ways that we are, and in ways that we will never be.

I think His humility is one of the things that melts my heart about Him the most. Beyond words!!

Storm dancer, I often remember lately His word to you....to not allow your love for Him to become a source of frustration. I can so understand that. He is teaching me how to have a heart of fire and a heart of peace at the same time. He is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!

yes. the Newman club is pretty widespread.
The Newman Club here is having a talk about supernatural miracles. I'm thinking of going even though I'm not Catholic...

this is so lovely. so many times I am tempted to not believe in Him. then He shows me I need Him so. I want to follow Him always. Jesus I adore You!!

I pray for this 'heart of fire'. I want to burn with longing and love and adoration. I was burning for Him this morning. Jesus makes me sooo blissfully happy. I find this especially before I sleep and as soon as I wake up. I like to think I'm adoring Him in my sleep :) don't know if it's possible or true!

ames that scripture has always meant a lot to me. It's one of the most touching things that Jesus ever said. I have used this verse in my dramas because it reveals Jesus' sincere appreciation for our friendship. Another translation reads, "you have been with Me in all My trials."

So many want the conquering Christ who gives them gifts, answers their prayers, the treading the sea, cheerful Jesus. He's does those things but Jesus broken hearted, grief stricken over the condition of the world and our own hardheartness...people find Him uncomfortable to be with.

I want to love all the faces of Yeshua, even His angry face which seems very scary to me. But I want to love what He loves AND HATE what He hates.

It was a trial for Jesus to deal with the money changers in the temple. The friends of Jesus were with Him. It was a trial when the 72 walked away after His "bread of life" discourse, but the friends of Jesus remained faithful. And the greatest trial of all, His Passion, the best friend of Jesus stood beneath His cross.

Lord Jesus help us to be Your true friends remaining with You in all of Your trials.

Yeshua...:bow::crossrc:

Jon perhaps when you are just about to go to sleep and when your are waking up is when you are most vulenerable to His Holy Spirit and you can sense Him holding you tenderly to His bosom. You slept there all through the night. I believe that!

zephniah (sp) 3:17 says "....He will REST in His love. He will joy over thee with singing."

Jesus is "resting" with you.:sweetdream:

YouTube - Cinderella Part 5

I was watching Cinderella on youtube today. I got to part 5 and I had to do a double-take. I love the look of Cinderella's face when the Fairy Godmother says the first thing she needs is a pumpkin. It's like, "Say what?" God was saying a lot to me when I was watching this video.

I think we have all been as broken-hearted as Cinderella at one point through our relationships, finances, disasters, etc. In these times, we break down and lose faith. But what little faith we have allows God to move in our lives. It allows him to show up just when we need him.

I believe this video demonstrates much of our experience in these times. God provides a pumpkin, mice, a lazy dog, and an old horse. :D God almost never answers our prayers in the way we expect. When we begin to see these things come together in our lives, it can be quite confusing at first. However, those of us who have faith, marvel at the unfolding work of the Lord.

There is a similar situation in the Bible. God told Abraham that he was going to be the father of many nations. However, Abraham and his wife, Sarah, were very old, past child-bearing age. Abraham and Sarah could only see their current circumstances. The only thing left for them was to summon Hagar, Sarah's slave girl, to be a surrogate. Now, this isn't so strange for the culture of the day but I imagine Sarah must have still been broken-hearted.

However, God had something totally different in mind. God doesn't look at circumstances. He is able to transform the environment around us, according to His will and if we let Him. We see God using Pumpkins but He doesn't see pumpkins, he sees carriages. He doesn't see a post-menopausal lady. He sees a fertile woman, the mother of nations.

Also, the things we expect God to use aren't always what God uses. The Fairy Godmother turns the mice into stallions but there was already a horse there. Surely, she would've used the horse first before the mice? Back to Abraham and Sarah, it would have been perfectly acceptable in the culture of the time for Sarah to raise Hagar's child as her own. The promise from God would be considered fulfilled. Abraham and Sarah would legally have a child together. However, God wanted Abraham's and Sarah's child to be loved by Sarah, not just raised by her. (Don't worry, Hagar and the child were taken care of!)

The Fairy Godmother wanted stallions who would get Cinderella to the castle quickly and mice are quick. The horse, by appearance, looked old and tired. However, since he IS a horse, he would make a perfect driver.

Next, why does the Fairy Godmother give Cinderella a curfew? Ecclesiastes 3 says that there is a time for everything. There is a time to dance and a time to mourn. Everything has a season. If we could, we would all find our way to the bliss of the ballroom and stay there forever. But we can't be there forever. Nothing would get done. I don't mean to say that we can only have a little fun and then back to work. God forbid! No. Whatever adventure we're on now, there will always be a greater one ahead. We can't be stuck in the comfort of the present.

One last thing and that's the cat. The cat's name is Lucifer. When I heard that, I began to think that Disney (back in the day) really knew what this story was about. Lucifer has one of the mice trapped in a bowl. However, the Fairy Godmother transforms Him into a beautiful stallion. The stallion neighs loudly and the cat runs off, fur a flying! What can be learned here? When you come into contact with the supernatural transforming power of God, Lucifer has no choice but to turn tail and run for the hills.

knownbeforetime,

I am so blessed to see someone as young as you receiving so much insight and wisdom from God. Wow~

For years I have always been moved when i'd see this movie....how God takes our rags and turns them into beautiful robes. Your insights about the things God uses is so cool, much of what you said I never thought of.

I think what is cool too about how the animals were used here, is that God elevated each one to a new stature. The mice to the horses, and the horse to the driver. Your words too, really touch my heart....since the old horse was a horse, he would be the perfect driver. He would be kind and know how to gently guide the steeds under his command. Amen.

Have you ever seen the movie Everafter? A Cinderella story, Drew Barrymore is the main character. I love that movie and have seen it so many times.
One part that always gets me is at the end, when the Prince asks her to marry him...he is kneeling down, and he says
"I kneel before you, not as a prince, but as a man in love.
But I would feel like...a king...if you would be my wife."

I always cry when I see that! Our Beloved Bridegroom is so beautiful and humble. I can't wait to marry Him and be HIS forever and ever. We are already His. Alleluia!!!!

Thank you for your sharing!

I absolutely LOVE Ever After. God first showed what Cinderella was all about when I first saw that movie.

The part that gets me every time is when she shows up at the ball. Henry drops everything to greet her and wants to introduce her to everyone. He thinks she gone to Belgium to get married but here she is!

The reunion doesn't last long because Danielle's stepmother recognizes her. She comes up behind Danielle and rips off her wings.

Baroness: "She is an impostor, Sire!"
Danielle: "- No!"
Baroness: "Her name is Danielle de Barbarac. She has been my servant for ten years."
King Francis: "A servant, Henry? Is this some kind ofjoke?"
Henry: "Baroness, you are on dangerous ground!"
Baroness: "Ask her yourself! She's a grasping, devious little pretender and it is my duty to expose her as the covetous hoax she is."
Henry: "Tell these women who you are. Tell them!"
Baroness: "Bow before royalty, you insolent fraud!"

Henry: "My God, it can't be true. Nicole?"
Danielle: "Nicole de Lancret was my mother. I am what she says."
Henry: "The apple? That was you?"
Danielle: "I can explain."
King Francis: "Well, someone had better!"
Henry: "First, you're engaged. And now you're a servant? I've heard enough."
Danielle: "Henry, please!"
(murmuring)
Henry: "Do not address me so informal, madam. I am a Prince of France. And you are just. Like. Them."

It was this scene, more than 3 years ago, that put it all in perspective for me. In Revelation, Satan is called the "Accuser of the Brethren". He regularly makes trips to Heaven, trying to convince God that His whole plan isn't worth all the trouble, that we should all just be handed over to him.

He tells God that we are below His station. We are only servants. Who lays down his life for a servant? He tells God that we are only pretenders. He tells God that we only want material things, that we aren't interested in Him at all. He repeats all of our past mistakes to God.

He tells us the same things. God doesn't want you, you're only a servant. You're only a pretender, a liar. You're dirty. You're worthless.

I am just so thankful that Jesus didn't have the same reaction as Henry!!! I think if I heard Jesus say what Henry said, I would be utterly destroyed. The truth is, we are just like them. We are dead in our sin. We live in darkness, we love it even! And Jesus knows it. But He still romances us anyway! He brings us into His Kingdom, out of darkness and into light.

When Satan accuses us, Jesus looks him square in the eye and says, "I know. I have forgiven her. She is blameless in my sight." I also imagine him giving us kiss on the cheek after He says that.

In other news, I started working a little bit on my own Cinderella story. It's been sitting on my computer for months and months. I finally opened it up again. :D

Here's a short blurb I wrote a long, long time ago. It's "cinderella"'s first dance.

It was the first time she had ever danced. She had thought about it often, imagined it. She twirled around in the fields in a rhythmic sway when her stepmother wasn’t looking. She had never seen a picture or really had it described to her. Her body had a natural rhythm when it came to hearing a tune. She always swayed alone in her dreams and music was a rare thing in her experience. However, in these mental machinations, she never imagined that dancing included touching.

The only things she ever touched were dirt, pigs, chickens, and trees. Touching things was not a pleasant experience for her. She did not even experience a human's touch when she was disciplined. When she disobeyed, she got a switch put to her backside that she cut for herself so her stepmother wouldn’t have to dirty her hands or risk injury.

Tonight, right now, she felt the warm hand at her back. It rested there. It was not pushing her. She felt the other hand clasped in hers, covering it and caressing it. Her other hand wearily reached for his shoulder as she had seen the other couples do.

His eyes alone made her want to run and take cover. She could not stand to have his eyes on her. No one had ever gazed upon her. Gazed was the only word she could think of. His eyes were at once sapphire and gold. It felt like beams of high noon sunlight mixed with a cool breeze. She wondered if she had been set ablaze. She had only ever endured the cold, distant glares of her stepmother. However, his eyes actually wanted to rest where they were and see what they were seeing.

In that moment, she felt so afraid. She felt in her heart how unworthy she was. She was scared for the moment when the prince would find out that he had been fooled with. That somebody dared bring a servant girl to a royal event in the hopes that he would mistakenly choose her. She felt both the fire of his eyes and the fire of her guilty heart all at once. It was a battle for her very soul in those few moments. Would her heart yield to the prince's wondrous gaze? Or, would her heart yield to the years of the burden of guilt that her step-mother put upon her? To the victor, go the eternal spoils...
--------------------------

Ok, so the last paragraph is new... I just keep writing!

Oh my goodness! That, my friend, is wonderful! My eyes are on the verge of tears. I could see and feel everything. You have a wonderful gift of describing things and getting inside of her heart and bringing to us how she feels. and the prince...his gaze you captured brilliantly.

my only suggestion is that you take some of the "it's" out when you are talking about the dance. replace with "dance" or another word. hope you don't mind me saying so.

gosh...keep going girl. the story is beautiful. I hope you share more. I'll certainly give this another read.

Hello! Wonderful sharings! I loved Cinderella as a child. My first exposure to the story, I think, was the original Rodgers and Hamersteins movie. I related to that Cinderella, with her strong imagination, and I was especially moved by the song the fairy godmother sang:

Impossible! For a plain yellow pumpkin to become a golden carriage,
Impossible! For a plain country bumpkin and a prince to join in marriage!
And four white mice will never be four white horses,
Such falderall and fiddle-de-de of courses,
Impossible! Impossible!

But the world is full of zanies and fools
who don't believe in sensible rules,
and don't believe what sensible people say,
and because of these ideally-eyed dopes keep building up impossible hopes
impossible
things are happening every day!

What a statement about faith! I'm glad to be one of the zanies!

Thank you, kisstheson! The problem with the traditional Cinderella story and especially Ever After is that these girls don't act like they've been treated like a slave for years and years. Cinderella never had a chance to think of herself as anything more. She didn't know there was more. She wouldn't know dancing. She wouldn't know proper etiquette. She wouldn't even know how to properly bathe herself.

We've all seen and heard stories of abused children. They don't magically have a normal life once they've been taken out of the home. They endure years of therapy and nightmares. A lot even grow up to continue the cycle.

I'm even debating whether to include sexual abuse in my story... :/ I really want this story to be as real as possible (with some supernatural thrown in). Bad stuff happens to forgotten children...

Jesus didn't choose us because we were confident and pretty. He chose us when we were dirty, broken, and had no sense of identity. My Cinderella may be physically cleaned up and ready for the ball, her heart is in no way, shape, or form ready to stand by his side in marriage. However, my prince can heal my Cinderella's heart!

Very true thoughts, knownbeforetime! I also loved what you wrote. Sorry I forgot to comment on it. I was responding to the Cinderella theme in general. In some versions of the story, she did know a better life before her father died but that was now behind her.

That's just amazing!!!!! God had made the wisdom of this world foolish and the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom.
