God gave warning to Israel, back in the book of Jeremiah ch 29:8,9
and a word of peace with freedom from captivity in verses 11-14.

so, why do folks wanna go back into bondage-
was it more fun and entertaining? :(

points to ponder :
the teaching, comforting and leading of the Holy Spirit is free.
Jesus did not take up offerings,
nor did He have a 3 milliion $$$ parsonage -eh 'cuse me, ministry.

This has really bothered me for a while. My church that I am a member of has Benny Hinn books in the book store. At a bible study I heard a few of the ladies talking about just getting back from a Benny Hinn convention. It really bothers be that the church would support someone like this. What should I do?

I don't think Benny Hinn knows what the term "God's annointed" even means. It refers to the annointed kings of Israel, not preachers.

A quote from the article I link to below is "But a closer look reveals the same Benny Hinn who fabricates events to demonstrate his alleged supernatural powers from God."

I have been listening to Hank for about 8 years now every day.

This is not the first time Hinn has been exposed by the national media either.

People can pervert Christians thinking.

I don't know if he is annointed but I kinda doubt it.

People that claim to be christians can be very harmful.

I think there is going to be a lot of rich so called preachers have a lot of answering to do.

It gives people a false idea on what a christian is.

you may feel like you have to pay these people for acceptance. I used to believe that stuff but I no longer believe this....... Evee

It won't do any good Miss Shelby.

He has been corrected by other evangelicals before and he just ends up coming back with more outrageous claims than before.

Edited Benny Hinn's e-mail address; no personal e-mail addresses allowed (Rule 3) even though it was part of another person's quote.

Any form of attack of Christianity is an attack on Christianity. It will not help you to attack the fringes of Christianity. It will not make dateline "Christian friendly".
In fact as the fringes shrink, you will become the fringe.

I don't think anyone here has seen the issue. The issue isn't Hinn, it's who's on the fringe today. He is a problem, no doubt but the true problem is the Spirtual battle that goes unseen by Christian and non.

I will not defend or attack any portion, no matter how much I disagree with them because by doing so I am fighting to make myself the fringe issue.

This is a Spiritual battle we fight. When are we as Christians going to understand this?

Eldermike,

Let me add that the biggest problem today is believers that are ignorant of what the bible teaches. We need to be Bereans and "search the scriptures to see whether these things are so."

It's really quite remarkable in a sense to see adults using their imagination in such a way.

It is called socio/psychological manipulation.
He uses the same tactics as stage magicians use at Las Vegas.

Pick up the book, "Christianity In Crisis" or "Counterfeit Revival" by Hank Hanegraaff. He explains how this is done.

I would discuss it with the pastor and elders or deacons of the church and show them that Hinn is a false prophet and a false teacher.
If they are unwilling to listen then I would leave the church and find a healthy, well-balanced church.

I know exactly what you mean. And yes, the fraud thing is, IMHO, a real problem.

Orson Scott Card wrote a wonderful story about a kid who had miraculous healing powers.

As my last word on this subject and taken from my own research on tele evangelists on TBN, etc. which concern me, I have some quotes from Benny Hinn, which I know have caused me concern. Some people think that he gets attacked by other Christian "player haters", etc but I prefer to let the facts speak for themselves. Compare them for yourselves with scripture and then you will see why many are dubious of his ministry

"Jesus Christ knew the only way He would stop Satan is by becoming one in nature with him...He became one with the nature of Satan, so all those who had the nature of Satan can partake of the nature of God."
(TBN December 15 1990)

Is this the correct exegisis of 2 Cor 5:21, where Christ became sin for us?  Did he take on Satan's nature or become the complete sin offering for us?

Adam was a super-being when God created him. I don't know whether people know this, but he was the first superman that really ever lived. First of all, the Scriptures declare clearly that he had dominion over the fowls of the air, the fish of the sea--which means he used to fly. Of course, how can he have dominion over the birds and not be able to do what they do? The word 'dominion' in the Hebrew clearly declares that if you have dominion over a subject, that you do everything that subject does. I'll prove it further. Adam not only flew, he flew to space. With one thought he would be on the moon.
(Praise the Lord, TBN December 26, 1991)

I am still searching my Bible for where he got this idea from!!

want to tell you why I believe people get sick...In 2 Chronicles 16, verse 10 - and I like to read this - verse 10 and 11 and 12, the bible says sickness comes when individuals attack preachers." -  (Praise The Lord, TBN, June 8, 1998.)

You have got to be kidding me!!! All sickness!!

"If you have attacked me, your children will pay for it."
( TBN "Heresy Hunters" October 23 1992)

Even if you feel this within can you really go onto live TV as a minister for God and state this. Not once but twice

"Yes, Lord, I'll do it. I place a curse on every man and every woman that will stretch his hand against this anointing. I curse that man who dares to speak a word against this ministry. But any man and any woman that raises his or her hand in blessing towards this ministry, I bless that man. I bless that home! I bless that family. Under this anointing, the words I speak cannot fall to the ground. Under this anointing, everything I say, happens."
(Benny Hinn, TBN September 10, 1999

Ummm...God tells me to bless them that curse you!!

See, God the Father is a person, God the Son is a person, God the Holy Ghost is a person. But each one of them is a triune being by Himself. If I can shock you - and maybe I should - there's nine of them - Praise The Lord, TBN October 3, 1990

If this is not heresy then please tell me what is??

" . . . the anointing is dependent upon my words. God will not move unless I say it. Why? because He has made us coworkers with Him. He set things up that way."
(The Anointing. 1992. p.82.)

Compare:

These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.  But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.1 John 2:26, 27

“When you were born again the Word was made flesh in you … You are everything He was and everything He is and ever He shall be .... Don't say,' I have.' Say, ' I am, I am, I am, I am, I am.”
( “Our Position in Christ #2-The Word Made Flesh” 1991)

He is often quoted saying "I am God-man". When Jesus stated that he was "I AM" he was staking his point that he was God, the same God who spoke to Moses and Abraham. For us to claim that we are I AM is...well.

I raise these points and quotes, and trust me there are for more, like poverty being for unbelievers, shooting people with a holy gost gun, I don't need gold up there I want it down here, etc. which cause many to compare these points to scripture.

There are many who will sit back and say well he has healed many, filled stadiums, etc. and I totally concur that many have been made aware of Christ through his ministry, but really and truly can truth and error mix with each other, especially if we are called to be disciples of Christ. The bible teaches

Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Galatians 6:1

Some of us have done this by emailing him, others have prayed for him and others still are teaching that his heretical teachings do not sit with what is written in God's word. We cannot just sit back and do nothing, imagine if the apostles did the same.

The failed prophecies of Ruth Heflin that he has quoted, his almost carbon copy ministry of Katherine Kulman and the secrecy of his ministerial administration. This makes people really sit up and think. Paul warns us in

2 Tim  4:3-4 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away [their] ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Christians confessing they are "a sinner saved by grace" only insult God with such "garbage"(The Toronto Blessing,1990

Well I am glad God accepts my garbage!!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I pray that God will lead all into the truth as set by his standard of righteousness for all humans, in the Bible. Take the evidence you have and do not treat it lightly. I pray for this man that if he is for God that he will speak truth and not lead people away from God. That his teaching would be consistent with scripture. ...but in the meantime it is my Christian duty to speak truth where I see God misrepresented.

Keep the faith
Dave

1COR 12:3 Therefore I make known to you that no man speaking by God's Spirit says, "Jesus is accursed." No one can say, "Jesus is Lord," but by the Holy Spirit.

1COR 12:4 Now there are various kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit.

1COR 12:5 There are various kinds of service, and the same Lord.

1COR 12:6 There are various kinds of workings, but the same God, who works all things in all.

1COR 12:7 But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the profit of all.

1COR 12:8 For to one is given through the Spirit the word of wisdom, and to another the word of knowledge, according to the same Spirit;

1COR 12:9 to another faith, by the same Spirit; and to another gifts of healings, by the same Spirit;

1COR 12:10 and to another workings of miracles; and to another prophecy; and to another discerning of spirits; to another different kinds of languages; and to another the interpretation of languages.

1COR 12:11 But the one and the same Spirit works all of these, distributing to each one separately as he desires.

1COR 12:12 For as the body is one, and has many members, and all the members of the body, being many, are one body; so also is Christ.

1COR 12:13 For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether bond or free; and were all given to drink into one Spirit.

1COR 12:14 For the body is not one member, but many.

Hinn has Prohesied and taught this balogne

  • Prophesied that Jesus Christ was going to start appearing physically with him at his crusades and in churches across America.  I believe that this is against what the word of God says.... :
  • Prophesied that all homosexuals would be consumed by a literal fire from heaven consuming them all.....
  • Prophesied that Fidel Castro would be killed in the 90's
  • Has taught that women originally were designed to give birth from the sides of there bodies....He was told this by God.
  • He taught that Adam and Eve could Fly with the birds and swim with the fish.  They had to have this capability to have "Domain" (he translated the meaning of this word wrong) over the animals of the earth.
  • He also said in 1999 that the wealth of the sinners would be placed in the lap of the believers.... Still waiting for my share...

Is this ok?  Is it ok for someone to distort the doctrine and teach and teach such heresies...?  He has no one holding him accountable.

I'm not a fan of Benny Hinn and I seriously question his "Bible Teaching", but for all that, I wouldn't be so quick to condemn the Lord's annointed, and there is an annointing there. Do not be too quick to judge.

On the money side, I get fed up of hearing people (especially secular organisations) carping-on about rich pastors, evangelists and teachers. I don't have any problem with the money side of things. The only question I would have (and this goes for all of us) is whether he/we recognise that it all actually belongs to God and we are His stewards, holding it for His purposes. So, if God told him/you to give it all away tomorrow - could you do it?

I personally don't hear of Hinn giving anything away.

And as far as the annointing is concerned, who annointed him?  Himself?  Because he "claims" to be annointed, he is?  How can a person be annointed when he's spouting false doctrine?  There seems to be a discretion in there somewhere
