PARIS, February 10, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A French homosexualist organization will be staging a “kiss-in” at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris this Sunday, St. Valentine’s day. Dozens of homosexuals are expected to turn up and kiss for five minutes at 2 p.m., after services at the cathedral.

Organizer Arthur Vautier told a Paris homosexual magazine, Tetu, that the demonstration is meant to “ challenge the Church to question religion on the issue of love and marriage between gays and between lesbians.”
“We were probably over a hundred at the last kiss-in,” Vautier said.
The “Catholic Culture City” blog called on Christians to “respond firmly and courteously” to the “new provocation by the gay lobby and suspected complicity of the media.”
One French blogger noted that the choice of targets is selective.

A French homosexualist organization...

"Homosexualist"? Yay! Made-up word.

Not that I'd trust lifesitenews anyway, but...a few dozen people are going to be kissing each other. Is that really provocation?

Homosexualists, evolutionists... leave it to the religious right to somehow turn anything they disapprove of into an "-ism". That probably has got something to do with the rampant anti-intellectual streak that dominates those circles.

The kisses in the video looked quite cute and romantic, by the way.

Oh no! People in a public street not disrupting anyone else's free passage or right to worship! It musn't be allowed!!!

You said it, sweetheart.

And next up, let's round up all those Christians who stand in front of abortion clinics! How dare people have opinions in the public square!

To arms, to arms, break out the pitchforks and torches!

No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!

If they keep it on the streets, then I don't seem them doing anything wrong. That said, is this really going to help them, or are they going to give those fearful of homosexual take over more ideas that this will be widespread if homosexuality becomes normal? As the saying goes, 'you can't argue with a racist', but you can refrain from adding fuel to the fire.

Kissing is, at least in our society, a far more sexual act, even if it isn't all that sexual, than what I have ever heard happens at those clinic protest.

No, they simply have to bring everything else down to the level of religion :D

Please do take into account that this event did not take place in *your* society, but in France.
Continental Europe is a whole lot more permissive of sexuality than the United States of America, and public displays of affection hardly suffice for a scandal or even a controversy (except perhaps in extremely conservative circles). Suffice to say that Janet Jackson's textile malfunction would not have resulted in a backlash of public outrage over here. We are a lot more laid back. And France even more so.

Which is why I did say in my society. I didn't want to say that kissing was more sexual in general, because I know of some societies where it is not. As for France, it may or may not be, but people here in America will hear about it, and they will react to it.

I have heard than in general, you are more laid back, but I still do not know if kissing is considered sexual or not (in comparison to something like studying for a test).

Maybe if you treated them with some basic respect, they'd return the favor.

I fail to see how disagreeing with someone is disrespectful by definition.

Besides, it's what the church gets for dressing all provocative.
Whatever that means...
