Has this ever happened to anybody? What do you do?

I got a friend request from some guy and I have NO clue who he is. There's no information on his profile that I can see, and there's no mutual friends. I don't think he's from the US, he has hundreds of friends all with names I couldn't pronounce to save my life. I don't even recognize the language. I just found this to be incredibly strange.

Talking to a few guy friends, they are convinced he added me because he thinks I'm attractive (based on the pic I have as my profile pic).

What do you guys do if/when you get requests from people you don't know? Do you just respond to the request inquiring where they might know you from in case its somebody you've forgotten or a childhood friend you don't remember? Or do you automatically hit ignore? Or maybe you even accept it, idk :p

I wouldn't accept, if I don't know the person I will not accept it.

Hi:wave:

I got a msg from someone and I think a friend request too about a month or so ago from some guy who went on and on about my smile and finding me attractive and I had no clue who he was, so I just ignored it.

I'm not sure if that was the right thing to do or not, but I haven't heard anything from so maybe it was :)

Since the guy's profile is left so blank and you have no clue even where he's from, I'd be really cautious on befriending him. But if you and God decide it's best to send him a msg. then go for it.

(Happy Thanksgiving!)

If there are no mutual friends and no message with the request to tell me who they are, it's an automatic denial.

Has to be one or the other. Sometimes if I can get enough info off the profile to determine if they are, say, from CF or something, I'll add them. That happened to one person.

Other than that, it's denial, denial, denial :p

I'm a guy so no, nothing like that's ever happened. Usually there are mutual friends involved. There was one person who had mutual friends, but I had no idea who they were. I usually accept to check the profile but if I can find no reason after awhile I off em.

I will deny their request unless I know them. Sometimes I get requests from someone who has mutual friends with me, but if I don't know you then I have no reason to add you. They might add me from the comments I leave to my friends. My profile pic is set to private, so if they add me it's probably to increase their number of friends or something.

Usually they get an auto deny

One time I got someone requesting me and her profile picture looked kind of like the girlfriend of one of my friendly acquaintances. I thought, ok, kind of weird, but whatever.
Turns out she wasn't and just bore a striking resemblance, but she was going on exchange to NZ and found me on the AFS site and had some questions, so in the end it was cool, but she just got lucky.

I had another one recently, a girl from California that I didn't recognize at all, no mutual friends. She sat on my notices page for about a month while I was trying to decide whether to accept her just to ask why she friended me or not. In the end I ignored it.

If I think I could posibly know the person, I tend to message him or her to ask. Otherwise, I deny the request.

Yeah, he's still sitting in my requests because I'm still pondering how I might know him :D

I know I'll end up denying though. I have no interest in guys that friend me because they think I'm attractive (I have a boyfriend), nor am I interested in adding a bunch of people I don't know to up my friend count. I think that may be what he is doing though, he does have like, over 700 friends.

Yes, I got one today. I denied him because I have no clue who he was. And no one can even see my profile unless they are my friend so....it just seemed like he was trying to add to his friend count since he had so many friends.

If I don't know them...I deny the request.

The only times I do differently is on myspace, and they have to have a Mafia Wars request for me to add a stranger.
