Rep points out of hand

Yep reps are way out of hand.

I've wondered about having a negative rep system myself.

This is why they are out of hand and we have astronomical rep numbers.

There are actually threads where people sit around repping each other into the stratosphere.

years ago they had negative reps, but that didn't turn out so well... too many people abused it and used it as a way to flame and harass others.

I don't even notice people's or my numbers. I just like reading the comments.

This thread has me cracking up lol Or maybe I'm just in that mood. Um, I like to read the comments. They are a blessing.

I've always thought that rep points were inflationary and just plain worthless.

Well, I guess I should say I started thinking they were worthless when a buddy of mine's "reputation" starting increasing based on his avatar.

That's like saying someone's intelligence increases based on what shirt they're wearing.

For the record, I'm wearing my Berkshire Hathaway hoodie while typing this, so, that's the most intelligence I can muster today based on clothing.

There's a lot more to it than that. We become friends and encourage and pray for each other.

They're as important to CF as whiny baby threads like this one.

I agree. I sometimes forget that numbers go with the comments

I think the numbers look ridiculous....

I ignore then numbers and just read the messages.

I liked it when the number of rep points one had was something which you only got from writing good posts now everyones rep points look the same because of the ridiculously high numbers.

I disagree. Sure the points have become a bit useless, but the rep function is still of use to me.

It is nice to be able to tell someone that you agree with them without loading up their inbox and to have it marked opened in your UserCP of the peeps you seem to have things in common with the way you think etc. That's what I liked about it when I found out about it little over 5 years ago.
