Gen 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

Isa 14:12-14 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

2 Thess 2:3-4 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

2 Thess 2:10-11 They received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe [the] lie.

Copeland and Meyers are both fond of calling man "little gods".

The CCC says this...
460
The Word became flesh to make us "partakers of the divine nature":78 "For this is why the Word became man, and the Son of God became the Son of man: so that man, by entering into communion with the Word and thus receiving divine sonship, might become a son of God."79 "For the Son of God became man so that we might become God."80 "The only-begotten Son of God, wanting to make us sharers in his divinity, assumed our nature, so that he, made man, might make men gods."81

And now for the obligatory posting of the rest of the context:

2 Peter 1:4 said:
Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

Psalm 82:6-7 said:
"I said, 'You are "gods"; you are all sons of the Most High.'
But you will die like mere men; you will fall like every other ruler."

Theosis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The CCC quotes directly from the Church Fathers; this is the ancient teaching of theosis. Also note lowercase "g" and not uppercase "G" when it says "make men gods."

You think that's what the psalmist was intending here?

I don't particularly know what the psalmist intended one way or another. I added the quote to my obligatory posting of context post because it seemed helpful. What I do know is that theosis has nothing to do with man becoming God (note capital G).

But is it some what of a way of deifying one-self?

How are we made gods?

By partaking in the divine nature of God. We are made in the image of God, are we not? The consequence of salvation is to become like God--close as a human can possibly get to the full image of the creator, anyway. Obviously, we don't become God ontologically (i.e. BECOME capital G God). That would destroy Christian monotheism. Read the article on theosis for more information. God is the one that does the deifying.

Those 2 witnesses in Revelation are given the powers and authority that Moses and Elijah had in the OT, but they would not have those powers except that it come from YHWH above I would think.

Reve 11:These are the two olives and the two lamp-stands the ones in view of the Lord of the land standing and if any them willing to injure, fire is going forth out of the mouth of them and devouring the enemies of them. And if any should be willing them to injure, thus is binding him to be killed.
These are having authority to lock the heaven that no shower may be raining the days of the prophecy of them, and authority they are having upon of the waters to be turning them into blood and to smite the land in every blow as often ever they should willing.

Hence the last part of my post: "God does the deifying." :)

YHWH does all things :)

John 19:11 Answered Jesus "not thou are having authority against Me not-any except it was given to thee from above.
Because of this, the one giving Me up to thee greater Sin is having."

By being partakers of the divine nature it seems to me at least that Peter is/was saying when we are born-again we are given everything necessary for life and godliness...Not that we become divine by any means. I mean is that not part of the riches of our salvation?

That's correct. We are given a measure of faith, we are not the essence of faith itself.

When you are in heaven, will you be exactly the same as you are now?

And with faith, comes knowledge?

Ephesian 3:17 To dwell the Christ thru the Faith in the hearts of ye in Love, having been rooted and having been founded, 18 That ye should be being strong to be grasping/apprehending together to all the Saints what the breadth and length and height and depth ,
19 To know the transcending of the knowledge love of the Christ , that ye may be being filled into all filling of the God [Reve 21:15]
