• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

So I had a great worship experience tonight, but I was still bothered by my OCD saying that I wasn't a Christian. I've been down this road so many times, and I have asked Christ in my life so many times, and I know the first was sufficient, yet I still have trouble with these thoughts. I hate how it works, I mean, it was a God blesses worship too. What should I do? Am I still saved?

I'm reflecting on your user name:

Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

I love Romans 8 because we can live in Romans 8 right now. Read all of Romans 8 carefully and give thanks. Jesus Christ is your intercessor now and the Holy Spirit of God lives in your heart as a guide and comforter. Pray and know that the Holy Spirit will help you. God knows the burden on your heart, and He will give you Peace with Him.

Remember:

Romans 8:37-39 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Love In Christ

remember it isnt about what YOU have done or how many times YOU asked Christ into your life... only about what He already did all you do is say yes yes yes i accept You Jesus as my substitute it really is FINISHED HE did it alll

with ocd as dabro says cant ever really get enough assurance and it drives us crazy...
we must learn to live with some degree of uncertainty and trust God to take care of us... He knows our hearts and that we want HIM... thats alll He wants is us to believe in Him and want HIM...
He takes care of the rest

I read in a book about overcoming OCD (from what appears to be a secular author, no less) that OCD is about seeking reassurance - but she pointed out (in a chapter on working with people with scrupulosity) that seeking reassurance is the opposite of faith. Reading that connected with me that I need to simply take God at His word. His word says I'm His son because I believe in the truth (Christ died for me, He is the son of God, and His sacrifice alone is sufficient), so I need to live in what He says. But also, there are so many promises. He's promised that if we seek Him with all our heart we'll find Him. He's spoken to me clearly in a number of ways and answered so many prayers... it's helped bolster my faith.
Recently, (just this past week) God's also been teaching me that I need to praise/thank Him for everything - including the mental torment. I had never really done that before and have just started doing it.

We have all been given the measure of faith already as a gift .
The gifts and calling of Jesus are without repentance.

He's promised that if we seek Him with all our heart we'll find Him

This is so true.Jesus promised us this.
