• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hi! I don't know if I have OCD. But I have a problem. I've been doubting my salvation for many months. Everytime I try to trust Christ alone to save me, I get doubts and thoughts that say that I did it wrong, or that I really don't believe. Worse yet that I committed the unpardonable sin. What do I do?

I am sure people will come to you soon dear, but while you wait go to this thread here

They talk about just what your question is and a lot of them do very well explaining that if you are a Christian you are secure. It isnt about how you feel. Feeling s can lie to you. It is about the promises of Jesus and whether He is able to get the job done or not. The answer is Yes He is more than capable of saving you and keeping you away from satan.

Read the thread.

Hi Humble,
Welcome to the forum. I'm so glad you found us.
I can't diagnose whether you have OCD or not. But based on what you've posted you might. I had it for many, many years without a clue as to what it was.
OCD is called "The doubting disease". It will generally attach itself to those things or relationships that are the nearest and dearest to us. So if you are a Christian and you have OCD it will, at some point latch onto your relationship with Christ and cause you to begin to question whether or not that relationship is secure. Those questions will weigh on you very heavily and cause a tremendous surge of anxious, fear filled feelings. That fear will create such a sense of urgency in you that you will feel the need to obtain certainty in regard the question. But if you have OCD, the more you search for that certainty, the less certain you will feel about the answer. The answer will never seem to suffice and you will feel compelled to press on and keep checking for some measure of certainty. This means that the question and associated anxiety will be your constant companions, stuck in your head. This can be mentally excruciating.
If this sounds familiar to you and if you've ever had this sort of thing happen in regard to other themes - like health issues - or human relationships - then you might very well be suffering from OCD.
Praying for you,
Mitzi

I honestly doubt everything. I'm concerned that I've committed the unpardonable sin. I'm afraid of lying to myself. Everytime I ask Jesus to save me I am afraid that I don't mean it. I even doubt whether or not I want get saved.

Gracealone:
That is extremely familiar.

You may have doubts but I know Jesus does not. You were called before the world was formed and He knew your name before you were born. I believe that people are called to be saved. I believe you were called or you wouldnt be here. You are saved or you wouldnt be worried about it.

An unsaved wouldnt spend 10 seconds worrying about that. Just like you dont spend 10 seconds worrying abut how you will pitch a perfect game in the world series.

It either is or isnt a part of your life. In your case dear, Jesus is part of your life!

you just have to remind yourself OFTEN that it isnt about what you have done right or wrong or repented right.. etc... its about what HE did 2000 years ago all you do is say yes i accept you Jesus as my substitute... and thats IT.. everything else gradually falls into place ' there is no sinners prayer in the bible or right way to do it.... it has already been done... IT IS FINISHED....
i agree with the others if you werent saved or wanting Jesus.. you wouldnt be here... its just that ocd keeps you going in a circle... just when you finally get some relief, doubt creeps back in and seems to suck the life right out of you again...
we just MUST live with some uncertainties and just trust the our Jesus is sooooo loving and alll knowing that HE is bigger and greater than our doubts and fears... so we must hand it over to Him.. and trust HIM to do whats right by us... and He will

Basically everytime I try to trust in Christ alone to save me, it is like I am trusting somethingelse. I promised I would not reject Him to God. I also get worried because there have been many times that I did not want to do what God wants me to do. There have been times where I have sinned and not felt guilty about it.

One reason I did not think it was OCD is because this happened right after I started praying for a demon possessed person. These anxiety attacks started a couple months ago. Does OCD usually start like that?

Seriously, could someone give me some advice? This is salvation we are talking about, the most important thing ever. Not to mention, I would like some medical advice for OCD from my previous post. I need to know what I am dealing with.

That's one thing I'm worried about. How do I know when the Holy Spirit is done dealing with me? I've heard the Gospel many times. That means that if I don't accept it, there is a huge chance I might commit the unforgivable sin. So, how do I stop myself from committing it?

Now this is what im trying to explain that I think happened to me. I am much older than you are and have been exposed to the gospel even more.

The fact that I turned my back on the Gospel and lived in willfull unrepentant sin for 10+yrs is pretty strong evidence that I crossed the line.

The only reason you're not getting saved is because you don't want to. Jesus says that He wouldn't cast out those who come to Him. If you come to Him, He promises to save you. Just repent right now!

what line?

God's mercy endures forever

triumphs over justice

is new every morning

endures to all generations

Jesus blood cleanses us from all unrighteousness

nothing is impossible to Jesus

who invites all to come

and drink freely from the Water of Life

is avaliable to all who come

Jesus says that He wouldn't cast out those who come to Him. If you come to Him, He promises to save you.

amen Humbleservant

Your saying I dont want to be saved? are you kidding me? I want this more than anything else in the world

Then salvation is yours

just come
and Jesus will in no wise cast you out.

Jesus is Truth

Ann, I have pointed out in scripture before that a person can indeed harden their heart to the point that God stops dealing with the person. There is proof of this all througout the Bible and when a person comes to that point he is done. Period. There are also real life testimonies of people who have crossed this line while still yet alive on this earth.

People today seem to have the idea that God is only a God of mercy and it does not matter how long you trifle with his patience and mercy. That could not be further from the truth as God is also a God of justice.

I do appreciate what your trying to do for me but I must say that I have to disagree with some of your perspectives.
