Hello all. As you can see I am agnostic, I don't believe in Christianity as much as I don't believe in any of the other religions. To me, each religion has as much proof as each other of being the truth. I've prayed to God, or whoever/whatever is out there. To show me the light.

I know the usual answer is "God doesn't give a clear message" or "He's been trying to tell you but you're ignoring the signs". If this God was as great and powerful as he's supposed to be. Surely he would be better at convincing his creations that he is their God? The amount of people going to Church is declining hugely. How could such a powerful being let the faith in him fall so much?

I know you will say "Well that's down to humans, not God". But it is down to God, he created us, he wants us to follow him. He needs to try a whole lot harder to win us over if he really is there! I'm off to Israel for 6 months. I didn't plan it, it's just happened. Maybe he's leading me there. or maybe i'm just in it for the nice weather. Who knows.

Hi Gooner1988,

So each religion has as much proof of its validity as any other. This sort of assertion is like saying this measure will save jobs. There is no objective criteria to validate the claim.

So you have prayed to whoever to show you the light. Clearly you should not expect the God of the Bible to answer, for you must both believe He exists and rewards those who seek Him.

Why should God "be better at convincing His creations?" Some folks accept the gospel and others do not. God allows us to make the choice. When we repent and turn to Christ, we bring glory to God. When we reject the gospel, we judge ourselves unworthy of salvation. Sounds like God's plan of salvation is working perfectly.

The amount of people going to church is declining, according to you. What if I said, more people are attending church today, than at any time in history. While it is true that as a percentage of the world population, Christianity is declining, it is also true that the absolute number of Christians is increasing, just not quite as fast as the population.

sounds like 20 years is the magic number here...I knocked from 5 years to 25 years...20 years of arguing, reasoning, refuting, yet constantly knocking. Sometimes you can't hear Him knocking because you're knocking so loud. His knock is soft and gentle...ours is hard and forceful.

Knocking is a way of life, the pursuit for God and Godly wisdom is in fact an on going process. It's when stop knocking that we find ourselves to be luke warm in our faiths. As a luke warm believer we are told we are no longer exceptable to God.

As far as God "forcing us to believe" through proof or sign and wonder.. We are told that we have been given this life to prove to ourselves in whom we love more. Do we love God, or ourselves?? To all of those who need constant reassurance through signs and wonders, Don't actually love God. They follow God because they have been reassured of His power. Which ultimately leads back to a fear of hell over true love for the Lord. For those who love God, don't need constant reassurance.

we are also told that we live and a fallen world, and the we as a people will continue to fall away from God until the cup of man iniquity runs over. At that time God will call to an end, the reign of man. So basically it sounds by your observations that "we" are par for the course.

God IS big enough. And He WILL bring each of His children home (back to Himself). Keep knocking. Keep studying the Bible (Study it). Keep looking for God. He will come. It's just He has His plans. And sometimes, in His plans (because of the domino effect), some people have to come to Him at certain times (to make sure everything works out for everybody). Because God knows that when He changes one thing, many other things will change. And "you becoming a Christian" will change a path of some other people. God will let you find Himself if you truly want to find Him. But it will be in His time. Your duty is to keep searching. Patience is rewarded. Be patient.

PSA 27:14 Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.

You WILL reap amazing joy and happiness if you just keep searching. Don't give up. You will be blessed beyond your imagination whenever it will be time for you to find Him. Keep searching...

Your responses are foreign to me, you assume to know what people would say but are wrong.

God has most people in darkness. His decision.

So keep knocking. What's 5 year, or even 1005 years compared with eternity?

***For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.*** - Matthew 7:8

*** All night long on my bed
I looked for the one my heart loves;
I looked for him but did not find him.

I will get up now and go about the city,
through its streets and squares;
I will search for the one my heart loves.
So I looked for him but did not find him.

The watchmen found me
as they made their rounds in the city.
Have you seen the one my heart loves?

Scarcely had I passed them
when I found the one my heart loves.
I held him and would not let him go
till I had brought him to my mother's house,
to the room of the one who conceived me.*** - Song of Solomon 3:1-4

***The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.*** - 2 Peter 3:9

If you seek Him with your whole heart you'll find Him, but sometimes it takes commitment and looking high and low for Him. But when He is found it isn't because it's when you wanted to find Him, but it is when you NEED to find Him.
