In all honesty, I feel bad for Obama over the matter. He's getting treated even more like crap, like somehow he chose to win the award or something. It isn't fair that because some people in our world decided he should win this award with no reasonable cause behind it, he is going to take flack for it.

I am so happy that Barack Obama won the nobel peace prize. It feels like President Obama, really knows how to get your hopes up like everything is going to be hunky dory, and you know I think world peace can be achieved in our life times. Yes we can! Gobama! I would like to dedicate this post to encourage everyone to have toast to world peace today drinking the Obama kool aid. Fired up ready to go lets change the world, yes we can!

Hey you think there will be a lot of trolling on this thread or what? I think there will be but I don't know.

The winner gets a million dollar prize. don't they?

I wonder if the US Constitution allows the President to accept the money? I believe there is a prohibition ameleorations.

I know why he won the prize which is what I did originally thought- he shook hands with the world and apologized for america. He was trying to make what they call peace just like Carter did. This is all he to do to be defined noble and peaceful in the eyes of the nobel peace committee-even though its has zero to do with peace.

Its should be called Nobel Pompus Prize or Nobel Phoney Prize.

No, this isn't like the Olympics issue. As I understand the process it isn't likely at all that Obama could have used any personal influence to affect the outcome of the process.

As for his ego, it will certainly enhance it. How could it not?

Or it could be neither. This selection is not a reflection on Obama. It would just as invalid if they gave the award to me. Neither one of us have done a darn thing. The problem is with the people who gave Obama the award. It should have gone to someone who deserved it.

OK...I accept that.

I too think it was premature for Obama to be awarded a Nobel Peace Prize. He has only been in office for nine or ten months, after all.

Most people who win the award are somewhat socialists. No surprise here. The family that started the Nobel Peace prize was the family of the man who invented dynamite. They felt guilty.....I am so sick of societies making people feel guilty for the use of their brain and knowledge. The only good thing Obama has done....is being drastic with his socialist programs...it is making people open there eyes and realize what he is. The truly sad thing about Obama receiving this award ...somebody else was robbed of it... who has actually earned it. For a man to come up with peaceful ideas (which is never going to happen) and some good speeches (which I am sure he did not write)....just does not cut it for me. All it does is diminish the value of the award.Oh by the way....The actual voting for this award was held on February 1st 2009. 10 DAYS into the Obama presidency. That is what they were basing their votes on. There are people who have devoted their lives to the cause of peace who were overlooked....just so Obama could get an unearned award for 10 days of work. All the award is... a political platform, not a reflection on anything he has done...just on his beliefs. This is nothing different then somebody getting a promotion based upon something other then their performance.

Sentences and paragraph breaks would be appreciated.

Nice talking points, though.

In a sense, it feels like a backhanded compliment. It's like the Nobel committee is saying "thank goodness you guys came to your senses and voted the warmongering neocons out of office".

Yep, my thoughts almost exactly.
