Hi this is my first post here, I apologize if this isn't in the right place.

Now I'm not too worried because this stuff is very common on the internet, but on the youtube website, the atheists encouraged other atheists to burn copies of the bible, as one user with the name "BornWithoutReligion" did.

I don't know what makes atheists think that we lack any of what she mentioned in her video.

Yeah, let´s destroy what we disagree with. Purity rules! Kill everyone and let, err, non-God sort out his own.

Sorry, I just can´t agree with such behaviour. You don´t burn books. Fullstop!
So they can't express what they what in legal form that they are because you don't agree with their view ?

It is their book that they paid for so what is the probelm ?
The problem is not in ownership of the book.
They can burn their property home, but they did that with the purpose to show their attitude. They showed it for everybody.
And it doesn't matter whose property was burned.
This is a problem.

so if their purpose or attitude does not agree with you, they are not allowed to express it ?

The basic view is that this is no different from any other form of protest. People won't agree with it based on their own feelings of the situation. When truly, it's just an expression. I don't view it as my place to claim whether the people that took this challenge were bad, or good, just different. They didn't hurt anyone, didn't cost anyone anything. So it's fine to do it if you feel the need, or have that desire.

Burning books is just not appropriate behaviour. This brings to mind things like Kristallnacht, and the burning of the library of Alexandria.

Personally I cannot bring myself to burn a book! One should express one's disagreements with words and not with fire!

I agree 100% with you. Burning books is especially laden with such heavy symbolism.

Well reading Acts, it does appear as though burning things that you no longer agree with is the normal thing.

Acts 19:19 A number who had practiced sorcery brought their scrolls together and burned them publicly. When they calculated the value of the scrolls, the total came to fifty thousand drachmas.

I don't see what the big deal is here. Historically when we talk about "book burning" it means destroying every extant copy so that nobody reads the contents of the book. For example Beowulf is such an important Old English epic poem not because it was the greatest of its time, but because it is the greatest of its time that didn't get destroyed by the Christians of the day.

What you have here is someone destroying a single copy of the new testament to demonstrate the conviction of their position. The book is the newer portion of the most popular book of all time. It's going to take more than a couple of angry atheists before there are no Bibles for people to read.

You are missing the point. It is not the actual fact that a book got burnt but the condoning of such acts that is to be taken seriously into account. If people condone book burnings then we as a society have lost a little more to the ones who would wreak their ignorance in the form destruction. I do not want to sound apocalyptic but like we say in my country "Bean by bean you fill the sack".
Damn shame really.
