And then I was struck by how little I actually know of...Him...
1 Corinthians 13:12
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

1 John 3:2
Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

From Darkness to Light

Jesus heals the man born blind

~Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him ‘Dost thou believe on the Son of God?’ He answered, and said, ‘Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him?’ And Jesus said unto him, ‘Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee.’ And he said, ‘Lord, I believe!' And he worshiped him~

The depths of the beauty of God, as related in this story, cannot be plunged. The beauty of Jesus is as a many faceted diamond, brilliant and blazing with radiance whichever way it is turned.

Jesus restored sight to this Jewish man who had been blind from birth. Following intensive questioning by the Pharisees, who were very envious of Jesus, the Parisees cast the blind man out of the synagogue. For a Jew to be put out of the synagogue meant that he would be looked down upon. This man had suffered much already from the Pharisees who were convinced that he or his parents had sinned which resulted in his blindness.

How hard it must have been to receive rejection, criticism and condemnation from the religious leaders of the day.

After Jesus heard that the cruel men cast him out, He looked for the man until He found Him. Oh, the seeking love of the compassionate Savior!

Having found him, the Lord asks him if he believes ~on the Son of God~. Imagine the reaction of the man as Jesus reveals to him that He is the Son of God. ~Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee~. The man stared at the compassionate, tender, loving Face of the One Who he had experienced healing from. One of the first faces that he gazed upon following the restoration of his eyesight was the gentle Face of the one Who loved him so.

As he gazed upon that beautiful Face, and heard His gracious words of love, the depth of that love shone brightly against the cruelty and rejection of the Pharisees. The brilliance of God’s love blazed against the darkness of the religious leaders of the day.

No wonder this one who had been healed and sought after until he was found was in awe. No wonder he that saw the beautiful, sweet Face of God and heard His speech full of grace, worshipped.

Whispers of Love

~ And all bore him (Jesus) witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth ~

~ And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father), full of grace and truth ~

It is noteworthy that Luke records the public ministry of Jesus beginning with a description of the Lord’s speech. After Jesus quoted from the Book of Isaiah, announcing that He had come to fulfill His Messianic mission, He stated that the prophecy of Isaiah was fulfilled in Himself. And what was the mission of Messiah, Jesus? It was that He would heal the brokenhearted, preach the gospel to those desperate in their need, He would set free those that are held captive in sin and by Satan, He would give the blind their sight and set at liberty those that are bruised.

His ministry, while on earth was a gracious ministry and it was no more apparent than in the graciousness of His speech. His were kind words that flowed from his lips. His were gentle, loving and compassionate words. His were words that built people up, strengthened them and gave them hope.

How kind were the words that He spoke to the woman caught in adultery when He told her that He did not condemn her. How He brought joy to Zachaeous, the chief of the tax-collectors when He told him that He wanted to spend the day with him. Zachaeous was probably one of the most hated men of his time but Jesus poured words of grace upon him even before Zachaeous had repented of his sin. He always saw the best in people and instead of pointing out their faults He spoke to them of the good He saw in each individual.

And so it is today. Jesus has not changed and one way that we can recognize the way that He is speaking, is the way He whispers His love and encouragement to us. He wants to build us up. He wants us to hear His gentle “fear not”. He wants us to recognize His kind and gracious ways with us.

Sometimes it can be difficult for us to believe that God is gracious. His words of love and encouragement can seem so different from what many of us have experienced during our painful life. But, know that He does desire for us to hear Him speak.

Beloved, are we still enough to hear Him? Have you heard Him speak to you? Do you want to hear His sweet whispers of love?

I like that you put Scripture referrances at the end, thank you!

You are so welcome! I used to put them in the midst of the text but I think its a bit distracting that way. Then I got lazy and didn't put them in at all. And then...God convicted me to put them back in :)

The Veil

The Veil has been rent!

~ Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.

And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom ~

In those days… the veil of the temple separated the holy place from the most holy place in the tabernacle of the Jewish people. The high priest was only allowed once a year into the most holy place to offer atonement for himself and the sins of the people. He alone was allowed into the presence of God.

And then...God came to earth. When He came here and became the God-Man, Jesus Christ, He lived a perfect life in our place. Because we are unable to live perfectly, God lived His life and then…He died in our place with all of our sins upon Him. When He died, the veil of the temple, at that time, was torn in two. This action was representative of what God had accomplished through His Son; that every person now has the privilege of direct access into the presence of God. I have heard it said that the veil was actually about two feet thick. It was not what we think of then we think of a veil today. It was torn in two from the top to the bottom indicating that God, from Heaven, reached down and tore it Himself. The way into the presence of God is now open and whosoever desires may enter into God’s presence, if they are born again.

Oh, what privilege! A lowly, sinful person as I am allowed to come into the very presence of God! He hears my prayers! I may converse and talk with Him every second of every day, if I wish! I am always in His presence; I am the apple of His eye and His loving eye is always upon me! I have God’s ear, so to speak! No earthly queen has such a privilege like this!

It is because of the death of Jesus on the cross that God the Father allows me so close to Him that I may have a relationship with Him. Jesus bought that privilege for us by His perfect sacrifice for our sins. The veil has been torn in two! We do not need a priest to bring us to God. All who desire, all who have need, may go to the throne of grace where Jesus sits. He will hear our prayers. He will comfort us. He will encourage us. We will come to experience His tender mercies and love for us.

My treasured reader. Do you have need today? Do you have grief of heart? Are you in fear? Are you lonesome and feel rejected? Jesus bids you come! Come into His presence and cry out to Him, whatever your need. He never turns away one that turns to Him. You may enter freely. His arms are outstretched to you!

~Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls~
