• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I've been using illegally about 2-3mg of Clonazepam daily for about a week and 1-2mg daily of Alprazolam a couple weeks before that. And Diazepam legally about 5mg 4-5 times each week almost a year before that (Until my brilliant doctor suddenly just stopped giving them without letting me cut down the use). And I want to cut down the illegal use. How gently should I cut it down to avoid withdrawal symptoms? I just had 1mg, but feel cravings for 1mg more, and know the cravings will increase during the day. Would it be better to go 1.5mg for some days before cutting it down to 1mg? How quickly can I cut it down without getting any major discomfort from it? The goal is to get down to only using 0.5mg a day a couple of times each week and then try to find a doctor that will agree to give me Diazepam again, to be used in a responsible way, since I'm scared of getting into heavy abuse with this. I know very well that daily use is bad and that even use of it at all is not good at all. I got supplies for 22mg Clonazepam and want to avoid any further illegal use after those supplies are gone.

Thanks for any advice :)

Each one of these are in the diazepam family and just as Chad mentioned you need to be under medical supervision while attempting to go off of these. Going off too abruptly can cause a seizure and is very dangerous, especially ones that are illegal and your really not sure exactly what they are cut with. I am in recovery for this exact drug and do highly recommend a support group such as AA to help you.
