Oh, I don't think Brikz meant anything by it. Yeah, probably not the place (although, I did ask her about her story which, in a round about way is similar... so I am equally guilty as charged), but haven't we all gone OT :)

Again, Welcome to TAW adIV and more importantly welcome home!
And Brikkz, welcome to TAW! :)

I haven't even been back to this thread but I am glad I didn't. That's way too much just over a question and I don't see it as a derailment. Its okay because I won't post or ask anymore questions in TAW. I've never ever entered someone else's safe haven or zone and tried to intentionally start anything or cause a problem but I know I am not welcome here.

Thanks for your PM a.d. I appreciated your time. I was genuinely curious since she said she used to spend time in OBOB.

I agree, Matt.

Most of us here in TAW were once inquirers and it was difficult because we asked questions that bothered the seasoned "Orthodoxers" who had already been chrismated. It is a wonder that so many of us have found Orthodoxy to be our new home in spite of the lack of a welcome. I remember my first time in an Orthodox Church when one of the parishioners discouraged me but another person welcomed me and so I stayed.

I would love to read another conversion story. It always rejuvenates my own faith and that of others.

I just love conversion stories. I really didn't wish to word anything wrong. I am a future convert to Catholicism and I thought since she hung out in OBOB what made the difference would intrigue me. I am not a debater for most part. I can be feisty but I consider the congregational forum other people's safe havens so I wouldn't want to step on toes.

I should have calmed down before replying. I know better than to let my first reaction be the way I respond to something in these situations.

Welcome, Brikkz! There are a lot of "conversion stories" about the forum...Can anyone find the link for me? A number of people here were Catholic at one time, some were Protestant, some where atheist/agnostic, some Muslim....There's a whole range. We welcome inquiry about the Orthodox Church, so if you have questions, fire away in a new thread!

I will see if I can find it.

I finally found our oldie but goody conversion thread in St. Basil's hall as a sticky.

I learned a ton from that thread...and found myself relating to more and more of the stories as I traveled the path to Orthodoxy...

I still learn tons from reading older threads in St Basil's hall
